IKEA Kitchen Warranty (Timeframe, Claims, Coverage, Kitchen Cabinets, etc.)
Installing a new kitchen can be very exciting, but it can also bring some stress. You probably want a kitchen that lasts a long time so you don’t have to maintain it all the time.
Since IKEA offers kitchens at competitive prices, you might be wondering what their warranty policy is. Me too, and here’s what my research found!
IKEA Kitchen Warranty
IKEA offers a 25-year limited warranty on its kitchens, covering defects in materials and workmanship of the kitchen system. However, IKEA kitchen faucets have a shorter warranty of 10 years and appliances have a shorter warranty of 5 years. To make a warranty claim, customers can visit in-store or visit IKEA.com.
But how do these time frames work? Read on to learn more, including warranty claims!
What does the IKEA kitchen warranty cover?
The IKEA kitchen warranty only covers domestic use of the following kitchen components and only covers defects in material and/or workmanship of the SEKTION system.
This coverage includes:
- Cabinet frames (except TUTEMO and HÖRDA)
- front
- UTRUSTA hinge
- MAXIMERA fully extendable drawer
- UTRUSTA tempered glass and melamine shelves
- leg and toe kick
- cover plate
- Decorative Strips / Decorative Strips
- Worktops (except LILLTRÄSK and FYNDIG)
- Sinks (except FYNDIG)
- UTRUSTA wall cabinet drainer
- VÅGLIG connecting rail
- UTRUSTA waste support
In addition, the IKEA Kitchens Limited Warranty is specific to SEKTION kitchen systems and is valid for 25 years from the date of purchase.
However, not all products are covered by this warranty, as IKEA kitchen faucets have a 10-year limited warranty that is valid from the date of purchase.
Does the IKEA kitchen warranty cover kitchen cabinets?
Yes, however, any cabinet frames from TUTEMO or HÖRDA are not covered by this specific warranty.
IKEA’s kitchen warranty recommends that owners of these kitchens only clean cabinet frames, fronts, shelves and drawers with a mild detergent or a soft cloth dampened in water so your cabinets stay looking great longer.
They also recommend that you avoid placing coffee makers or teapots directly underneath, where steam can flow upward from cabinet frames and under doors.
What is not covered by the IKEA kitchen warranty?
This limited warranty for IKEA kitchens does not cover any normal wear and tear, cuts, scratches or damage caused by impact or accident. It also does not cover incidental or consequential damages.
IKEA’s warranty states that if the user does not install, assemble or store the purchased product correctly, the warranty will be void.
The same is true for those who use their kitchens inappropriately, remodel, misuse, abuse, or use the wrong cleaning products or methods to clean their kitchens.
Additionally, the kitchen warranty does not cover damage from natural causes such as fire, flood or tornado, nor does it cover repairs to electrical, tile or wall surfaces.
IKEA 25 Year Kitchen Warranty
IKEA offers 25-year warranties on many of its confident product lines, however, these warranties only cover final defects and poor workmanship, not accidental damage.
If you want to make a claim against the warranty, your best bet is to go to your local IKEA and speak to a representative, pictures may be required to support your claim (along with your original receipt).
IKEA will then send staff to assess the damage and assess whether it was an accident or their fault. If found to be faulty, they will replace or repair the defective merchandise.
If a problem is found, IKEA will pay for labor, travel and spare parts if a problem is found in this regard, and if IKEA no longer sells the item, they will provide a suitable replacement.
