What is Starbucks Honey Blend? (What to know!)

I recently ordered a Starbucks drink that included “Honey Blend” in the description.

Although it was very tasty, it made me wonder, what the heck Yes Honey mix? o We investigated it and this is what we found…

    What is Starbucks Honey Blend?

Starbucks uses honey syrup to flavor their handcrafted beverages, which is called a “honey blend.” It’s one of the many flavors Starbucks uses to create a vibrant and ever-changing line of artisanal beverages.

This article looks at Starbucks Honey Blend Syrup: what it is, what it’s used for, and what you can substitute for it (if it’s not your thing).

What are the ingredients in the Starbucks Honey Blend?

Starbucks Honey Blend contains 64% honey and is made from honey, water, natural flavors, potassium sorbate, xanthan gum and citric acid. It is mixed and bottled for convenience and is also sold in one-liter containers at Walmart.

The Starbucks Honey Blend was created to produce a “sweet and simple beverage blending process.” In other words, it mixes into beverages quickly, smoothly, and efficiently.

This is especially useful for baristas who work under pressure and must make multiple drinks quickly and accurately without spilling.

Regular honey doesn’t work because it doesn’t dissolve into the drink properly.

What does Starbucks use honey blends for?

Starbucks adds honey blends to some of their specialty drinks. It adds flavor, sweetness and texture to the finished beverage.

Drinks made at Starbucks using the honey blend include:

    • Bee Cold Brew
    • Honey Oatmeal Latte
    • Almond Milk Honey Flat White

    Is Starbucks Honey Mix Sweet?

The honey mixture Starbucks uses is a very sweet syrup. However, the amount of sugar you consume from a honey mix depends on how much sugar is added to the drink.

For example, Starbucks offers drinks in different sizes, each using a different amount of a honey mix and possibly other syrups.

    • High – use three pumps of syrup
    • Grande – uses 4 pumps of syrup
    • Venti – Can use 5 or 6 pumps of syrup

Added 5 grams of sugar (about 20 calories) per pump of honey syrup.

Which is better: Starbucks Honey Blend or Starbucks Honey Pack?

At Starbucks, you can request that honey be added to any drink you like during the drink-making process. Additional sachets of honey are free. The addition of honey (rather than honey syrup-flavored beverages) appeals to many specialty drink connoisseurs.

Honey used by baristas comes in single-use 3g plastic packaging and is usually used for a well-mixed hot drink (unlike cold drinks).

Starbucks also offers an agave syrup option, which you can request to add to your drink at no extra cost.

    What is agave syrup?

Agave syrup comes from the agave plant, a cactus that grows in warm climates like Mexico and the American Southwest.

The production of agave syrup has attracted advocates of organic products because it is high in fructose (or fruit sugar) and about one and a half times sweeter than table sugar.

This means you can achieve the same goal with fewer resources.

However, because fructose is metabolized by the liver (unlike sucrose, which is metabolized by the mitochondria of all cells), consuming large amounts of fructose can stress the liver.

So, as with any sugar product, it’s important to consume agave syrup in small amounts.

Has Starbucks Honey Blend been discontinued?

Starbucks hasn’t stopped using honey to mix syrups or use it to flavor beverages. However, the supply of Starbucks honey blends has not always remained stable.

Certain beverages are unavailable for a number of reasons, and this issue could apply to any ingredient Starbucks uses at any time. In June 2021, there was a supply issue with Starbucks Honey Blend that the company hopes to rectify as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, in recent years, supply and shipping issues have become commonplace. These may be due to lack of staff, lack of workers, lack of product and lack of delivery options. When this happens, certain beverages will be discontinued for an “unforeseen” time.

Starbucks regularly reviews demand for its artisan drinks. When demand for a certain beverage is low, Starbucks may remove it from the menu. Sometimes, Starbucks claims that the withdrawal of a certain beverage is not permanent and that the beverage may be returned if there is demand.

Starbucks is also constantly experimenting with new beverages and prides itself on introducing new and original recipes to their consumer community. Old wine must give way to new wine.

Regardless, some Starbucks handcrafted beverages are seasonal. The drinks include Christmas and Halloween drinks, which are introduced to coincide with each holiday.
