As a purely online business, one of Chewy’s core principles is to ensure fast and convenient delivery to customers. It was largely successful, leading many to wonder which shipping company Chewy was using.
So, which company does Chewy work with? If you want to know, read on to learn about my findings on the subject!
Which shipping company will Chewy use in 2022?
Chewy uses FedEx Home Delivery and “other premium shippers” to ship in 2022. The 1 to 5 day wait time for FedEx Home Delivery is why Chewy is able to make it between 1 and 3 days. Chewy also uses FedEx Home Delivery’s weekend delivery service. Previously, Chewy also used LaserShip, but abandoned it after multiple customer complaints.
Read on to find out everything you need to know about the shipping company Chewy uses, including where it ships from, other shippers Chewy uses, and more!
How fast is Chewy’s shipping?
Chewy is able to ship the fastest because of its combination of relatively fast shippers and fulfillment centers in strategic locations across the country.
Chewy ships using FedEx Home Delivery, a company focused on making deliveries as fast and convenient as possible.
First, compared to many other services, FedEx Home Delivery has a very short wait time between 1 and 5 days.
This window applies anywhere within the 48 contiguous states, meaning a delivery person can pick up a package at one end of the country and deliver it to the other within a few days.
Chewy further reduces this time by distributing fulfillment centers across the country, covering the following areas:
- North (Pennsylvania, Indiana, Kansas, Missouri and Ohio)
- South (Texas, Kentucky and North Carolina)
- East (Florida)
- West Coast (Nevada and Arizona)
With this setup, Chewy can process a customer’s order and deliver it to a shipping company directly from the nearest fulfillment center.
Packages are also delivered faster compared to companies operating from national central hubs.
In addition, FedEx Home Delivery offers weekend delivery.
That means weekends won’t slow down day-to-day work as FedEx only operates on weekdays.
Chewy also only ships within the contiguous U.S., which means it does all the work without having to hand over the package multiple times.
Shipping goods between states via interstate highways is much easier and faster than crossing borders or crossing oceans.
However, Chewy has used LaserShip for shipping with FedEx Home Delivery and other premium shippers.
Over time, Chewy stopped using the company after several customers complained that packages could not be tracked and that shipments were arriving more slowly than expected.
Chewy made no official statement when it dropped LaserShip, but a tweet from Chewy’s official account in January 2020 confirmed that it had stopped using the company to ship.
Where does Chewy ship from?
Chewy ships from fulfillment centers and warehouses in multiple strategic locations across the country, in the following states:
- Pennsylvania
- Nevada
- Indiana
- Texas
- Kentucky
- Arizona
- North Carolina
- Kansas
- Missouri
- Florida
- Ohio
Pennsylvania has the chewiest fulfillment centers in 5 locations. Every other state mentioned has one.
From these locations, Chewy delivers shipments to companies like FedEx, which then delivers them to customers who live in or around these areas, speeding up delivery.
Where does Chewy not ship?
Chewy doesn’t ship outside of the 48 U.S. states, which means it doesn’t ship to Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territories like Guam, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and American Samoa.
Aside from these places, Chewy doesn’t ship to any country other than the US, not even Canada.
