How long does it take for Walmart pickup? (2022)
Walmart is an American multinational retail company that operates a large chain of supermarkets (“supercenters” in their words), grocery stores and department stores from the United States. Founded by Sam Walton in 1962, it currently has 10,593 stores and clubs in 24 countries around the world.
Walmart is known for giving customers the option to collect products from their stores, which we explore in this article. Read on to learn more about the ins and outs of the process!
How long does it take for Walmart pickup?
After you place an order at Walmart’s online store, the product will be ready for pickup within 4 hours of your order. If you place an order after 4pm, your order can only be picked up the next day. Also, if the pickup location is full, you may have to wait longer.
If you need faster delivery, look for items labeled “Free Pickup” on the order page of Walmart’s online store.
What types of Walmart pickups are there?
Walmart offers two different types of pickup services, store pickup and curbside pickup. Both services are free as there is no delivery fee involved.
store pickup
With this option, you can place an order at the Walmart Online Store or the Walmart app on your phone. Once your order is ready, you will receive an email, text message (if you ordered online) or notification (if you ordered from the app) and you can go to the store of your choice to pick it up.
Orders placed before 4pm will usually be collected in a 4 hour time window on the same day, but orders placed after 4pm will be delivered the next day.
Walmart store pickup hours are 8am-8pm daily.
curbside pickup
With the curbside pickup option, you can also place an order in the Walmart online store or the Walmart app on your phone. When your order is ready, you will receive a similar email, text or notification (based on the medium of your order). You can then drive to the store’s dedicated parking space.
Upon arrival, a Walmart employee will bring your order to your vehicle with zero touch or interaction with you. Walmart puts customer safety first, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. If you order before 3pm, you’ll enjoy free same-day pickup.
Curbside pickup in Walmart stores is 8am-8pm daily.
Items that are available for Free Pickup but do not display “Today” will ship to the store of your choice for free. The available wait time for these items is approximately 3-5 days from the time you place your order.
What do I need to pick up my order?
You can pick up your Walmart products or items from the following types of locations. You can use this store locator to find the nearest Walmart near you.
- Walmart store
- Walmart Community Tag Store
- FedEx office locations (available in limited locations only)
Walmart Stores and Walmart Neighborhood Marker Stores generally store your orders in their service/store pickup areas, which are usually located on the inside near the back of each store. If you have ordered any jewelry items, you can pick them up individually at the jewelry counter in the store.
You’ll need to bring a valid government-issued photo ID, a confirmation email, or a text reminder with your order number. If you want faster service at the store, please print out your “Ready for Pickup” email and pass it on to the store associate. They will scan the code in the email, which will help them find your package quickly.
What happens if I don’t pick up my Walmart order?
If you happen to miss the pickup window for your order, Walmart will generally keep the order in-store for about 7 days (5 days at FedEx locations) from the original pickup date. After 7 days, the order will be cancelled.
If you apply within the 7 day window, you are entitled to a refund and the funds will arrive in your bank account within 3-5 business days via the same method as your payment method.
For Walmart grocery or perishable orders, their store policy is to hold the order only on the specified pickup date. Groceries will be discarded if items are not collected on the same day.
Alternatively, if you are unable to pick up on the pickup day above, you can contact the store to reschedule to a later date that is convenient for you.
in conclusion…
Walmart has been one of the best retail companies for years, expanding and enhancing their customer experience by introducing multiple types of methods for customers to buy products from their stores.
So you can choose from one of their many pickup or shipping options based on your location, time, price point and your needs. If you choose the normal pickup option, it will take approximately 4 hours for your order to be ready for pickup. If you place an order after 4pm, your item will only be ready for pickup the next day.
If you want to save time on delivery or pickup services, look for “free pickup” items when ordering from the Walmart online store.
