One of the reasons Starbucks has been so successful over the decades is its choices. Guests can customize their beverages to an unparalleled degree, with a variety of options including milk, mixes, toppings, and yes, especially flavors.
One such flavor is the popular honey blend. What is Starbucks’ honey blend? You may have tried it unknowingly. Here is the information you need!
What’s the Starbucks Honey Mix in 2022?
Starbucks Honey Blend is a pumpable syrup flavor that combines honey and water, making it easier for baristas to dispense than regular honey (which must be cut) from 2022. Honey blends are added to beverages like Honey Oat Milk Latte, and Almond Milk Honey Plain White.
Let’s take a closer look at the composition of honey blends, how much sugar is in them (and therefore how much is added to the drink), and what’s the real difference between honey and honey blends. continue reading!
What’s in the Starbucks Honey Blend?
Starbucks lists the ingredients of its honey blend under any beverage that contains syrup.
they are:
- sugar
- water
- natural flavor
- Potassium Sorbate
- Xanthan Gum
- citric acid
Starbucks debuted the new blender when it launched a new line of plant-based milk coffees in 2021.
While the chemicals in honey blends can be a bit off-putting, they are additives that keep the syrup shelf-stable and/or texture-preserving.
Also, it’s important to note that the two main ingredients of a honey mix (you can tell because they’re listed first and second) are honey and water, honey first.
Another fun and positive thing is that there is no added sugar. Honey itself is sugary enough.
I’ll cover that in the next section, so keep reading!
Does Starbucks Honey Blend have added sugar?
Starbucks Honey Mix contains no added sugar.
As I covered in the previous section, the two main ingredients are honey and water. The rest are natural flavors and additives that keep the syrup stable.
However, the honey mix certainly doesn’t require any added sugar, as each pump has about 5 grams.
All of Starbucks’ other flavored syrups contain 5 grams of sugar per pump, so if you typically add flavored pumps to your coffee, you won’t be consuming more or less of the honey mix.
Is Starbucks Honey Blend Healthy?
While honey itself has significant health benefits (including antibacterial properties), Starbucks’ honey blend syrup doesn’t have those properties.
This is because, while it does contain honey as its main ingredient, it is also diluted with water and contains additives/preservatives that are rarely considered healthy.
Starbucks Honey Blend isn’t high in calories, but it does contain a lot of sugar, so it’s not the ideal addition to your coffee drink.
How many calories are in a pump of Starbucks’ honey mix?
While Starbucks’ honey blend is a sugary substance, it’s not very calorie-dense, at about 40 calories per tablespoon.
A pump of syrup is usually about half a tablespoon, so you can get the three pumps of honey mix you need in Honey Almond Milk Plain White in just 60 calories.
However, while it’s low in calories, don’t forget that Starbucks’ honey mix contains 5 grams of sugar per pump.
What is the difference between Starbucks honey and honey blend?
Starbucks honey mix differs from regular honey in several ways, starting with the ingredients: The honey mix dilutes the honey with water.
There are other ingredients, mostly additives/preservatives.
Plus, pure honey is just that—natural, untampered honey.
According to the barista, Starbucks’ real honey is kept in long straws that have to be cut, which can affect the speed when the work is busy.
However, the honey mixture is a syrup that can be pumped easily (one hand, no less).
Finally, there’s one more, and weird, difference between honey blends and honey: real honey can contain as much as 16 grams of sugar in a tablespoon.
Since the honey mix is a diluted mix, each pump contains only about 5 grams of sugar.
Can you buy a Starbucks honey mix?
If you like Starbucks’ Honey Blend Syrup, you can actually buy it at the store!

You’ll also find some nutritional information under the product description—that’s 80 calories per two tablespoons.
