Will Chewy accept Afterpay and other “buy now” pay later services in 2022?
Unfortunately, Chewy doesn’t accept Afterpay, but other payment plans will be available on the site in 2022. Why doesn’t Chewy accept Afterpay or Paypal Pay in 4?
Chewy may not accept Afterpay as it has yet to start implementing payment methods on the site.
Chewy is a relatively new platform that started out with great success over the past few years, so the company is still growing.
While Chewy does accept PayPal and PayPal Credit, it doesn’t accept PayPal Pay in 4, the company’s buy now, pay later service.
Pay in 4 is still rolling out to some retailers, Chewy is not yet one of them, but it may be added in the future as PayPal already has an existing framework.
We found a tweet from January 2020 in which Chewy responded to a customer requesting Afterpay integration, saying the company was optimistic about its future.
Although Chewy hasn’t announced it yet, we can assume it accepts Klarna since we’ve found customers who have used this payment method at retailers.
One customer said they were using it in August 2021, while another said they were using it in December 2020.
You can also use Zip (formerly known as Quadpay) to “buy now” at Chewy to pay for future purchases.
This is possible because, although Chewy has not officially signed Zip, the retailer’s authorization is not required to operate the service.
Zip creates a virtual Visa card that you can apply at checkout.
No matter which retailer you shop with, it will be considered a regular card, but the Zip will cover the cost, which you will have to pay off over time.
Zip also has a feature that lets you shop at supported retailers directly within the app, so the whole process is easier.
What payment methods can you use at Chewy?
When shopping at Chewy, you can use the following payment methods:
- Paypal
- Apple Pay
- MasterCard
- visa
- American Express
- Find
- chewy gift card
As mentioned above, you can also buy now and pay later with a Zip at Chewy by following these steps:
- Download the Zip app via the Google Play Store or Apple App Store
- Open the app and search for “Chewy” from the store
- Shop as usual, add items to your cart as usual
- At checkout, navigate to payment methods and select “Pay with Zip”
This will divide your payment into 4 installments that you must pay back over the next 6 weeks.
