Does Aldi Hire Teens? (14, 15, 16, 17, 18 years old)
Aldi is joined by some of the most respected employers in the country, offering great wages, top-notch benefits and flexible working hours. It’s a great place to work for any adult aiming to elevate your status, but what about young people?
Does Aldi employ teens, especially those under the age of 18? If you’re in high school and looking for a part-time job, here’s what you need to know about working at Aldi!
Will Aldi be hiring teens in 2022?
As of 2022, Aldi does employ 18- and 19-year-olds. But the company has taken a tough stance on not hiring anyone under the age of 18, even though state law may allow children as young as 14 into the workplace. This is a company-wide rule that applies to every store in the country, regardless of state.
Let’s take a closer look at the age requirements to work at Aldi, if you can scream at 17, why the company might adopt this policy and more. Keep reading below!
How old do you need to be to work at Aldi?
To work at Aldi you must be at least 18 years old. With this, Aldi’s official statement on the subject is as follows:
“ALDI has decided that employees must be at least 18 years old to work at ALDI. We know that state laws may vary regarding requirements for workers under the age of 18, but ALDI has decided to adopt a simple rule that requires employees to be at least 18 years old. .”
Also, there seems to be some confusion on the topic as people are led to believe that workers can start working from the age of 16.
As far as I know, it is possible for a 16-year-old to work at Aldi in the UK, not in a store (but in a warehouse).
So unfortunately high school age kids are not eligible to work at Aldi even though it would be a great part time job.
However, college students can choose to work part-time or full-time if they wish (again, as long as they are over 18).
Does Aldi employ anyone under the age of 18?
Aldi does not employ anyone under the age of 18. So if you are 14, 15, 16 or even 17 years old, you are not eligible to apply.
Additionally, if a hiring manager is found to be hiring someone under the age of 18, they are in direct violation of company policy and could be fired.
Can a 17-year-old work at Aldi?
Even 17-year-olds, even though they are approaching 18, are not eligible to apply at Aldi. If you’re on the cusp, be patient or look for something else until you’re 18.
Why do you have to be over 18 to work at Aldi?
I can’t find any official statement on why Aldi requires its employees to be at least 18 years old, but I have some theories.
First, many Aldi stores sell alcohol. To handle alcohol in a retail setting, cashiers in many states must be at least 18 years old (and 21 in many!).
So, by establishing an 18-year-old policy across the country, Aldi aligns hiring requirements with many state alcohol laws.
Additionally, children under the age of 18 are subject to child labor laws (i.e. restrictions), which can make managing a schedule more tricky.
By not hiring children, Aldi management can schedule time without fear of accidentally breaking the law.
Finally, Aldi has partnered with grocery delivery service Instacart, where the legal age of employment is 18.
So I think it’s a good idea to have consistent hiring practices for both, including the same minimum age, since they work so closely.
Do you have to submit a high school diploma to work at ALDI?
Since you technically have completed or are close to completing high school by the age of 18, you may be wondering if Aldi requires a diploma or GED certification.
The answer is no. While having a diploma or GED is preferred, it is not required by companies as part of the recruitment process for entry-level positions.
Is Aldi a good job for college students?
Since most college students are 18 and over, you may be wondering if working at Aldi is a good way to generate some part-time or even full-time income while you’re in school.
The answer to this question is very personal, as Aldi works hard for you every shift.
That said, even part-time hours can be too tiring for some, as the job requires you to constantly move, unload heavy pallets, walk back and forth to the store, and more.
However, if you have endless energy and don’t mind getting your hands dirty (and your feet are going to be sore), the high salary might be worth balancing out with the full-class load.
Is Aldi flexible for college students?
The flexibility of Aldi’s schedule appears to be pretty solid in every way.
However, a former Indeed.com employee said a manager “makes you feel like if you take a flexible schedule, you’re going to be replaced. That’s definitely not welcome.”
So if you’re 18, 19, just starting university and want Aldi to fit your schedule as you move through this new phase of your life, you may want to tread carefully.

in conclusion
Aldi’s company policy is to only employ persons 18 years of age and older.
Unfortunately, 14, 15, 16 and 17 year olds, while eligible under state law, are not eligible under Aldi.
However, high school students over the age of 18 and most college students can enjoy Aldi’s above-average wages and generous benefits.
