FedEx Money Back Guarantee (what it is, how it works + more)
One of the things customers love about FedEx is that they can trust that their packages will be delivered safely, efficiently, and most importantly, on time.
While FedEx’s efficiency depends on many factors, the money-back guarantee is one thing that keeps FedEx delivering on time. But what does this delivery guarantee mean? If you want to know, keep reading!
What is FedEx’s 2022 Money Back Guarantee?
FedEx’s money-back guarantee promises to reimburse shipping costs if a package arrives after the published delivery time in 2022. It applies to certain express shipments from the United States. How does the FedEx Money Back Guarantee work?
FedEx offers a money-back guarantee for certain express shipments from the United States.
This guarantee applies to commercial and residential shipping in all 50 states (a full list of included services can be found later in this article).
If FedEx misses their advertised (or quoted) delivery time, even by just 60 seconds, this guarantee allows customers to request a refund or return shipping.
Once you file a claim and FedEx approves it, you will receive reimbursement to the account you used to pay for shipping.
Which services qualify for the FedEx Money Back Guarantee?
FedEx’s money-back guarantee applies to the following courier services for U.S. domestic and U.S. export shipments:
- FedEx overnight (First, Priority, Standard)
- FedEx Overnight Hours (Priority and Standard)
- FedEx International (First, Priority, Priority Express)
- FedEx International Priority Shipping
However, at this time, FedEx has suspended the money-back guarantee for all other FedEx, FedEx Ground, FedEx Freight, and FedEx Office services until further notice.
How do I file a FedEx Money Back Guarantee claim?
FedEx only offers refunds when the company receives a request from the shipper. In other words, it’s up to the customer to file the claim because FedEx won’t refund your money unless you ask for it.
Therefore, it is helpful to know how to file a money-back guarantee claim with FedEx.
You can file a claim in the following ways:
- Registered users of FedEx Billing Online can submit claims on the FedEx website
- Via the Invoice Adjustment feature at fedex.com/billingadjustment
- Adjust the system by calling 1-800-GoFedEx (1-800-463-3339).Say
Whichever method you choose, your claim must include your FedEx account number (if applicable), your FedEx tracking number and the date of shipment.
However, keep in mind that the person paying for the shipping is the one who needs to file a claim.
Also, if you order late items from an online retailer, the retailer makes the claim on your behalf.
How long do I have to submit the FedEx Money Back Guarantee?
All refund requests or shipping credits must be received through one of the approved channels (listed above) within 15 calendar days of the invoice date.
However, if you pay in advance by credit card or cash, check or money order, you must submit a claim within 15 calendar days of the ship date.
What are the exceptions to FedEx’s money-back guarantee?
Like all good things, FedEx’s money-back guarantee does have a few exceptions. Let’s take a closer look at some of the most common.
FedEx’s money-back guarantee does not apply if:
- FedEx provides you with proof of prompt delivery (i.e. date and time of delivery and, if applicable, name of recipient)
- Your FedEx account is in poor credit standing, or payment instructions are invalid and delivery is delayed after payment arrangements have been made
- The shipment has been resent from the shipping address to the Staging Location address
- Shipment was returned or undeliverable
- Shipments containing dangerous goods or dry ice
- Shipment delayed due to incorrect address or zip code
- Shipment delays due to the recipient’s inability to accept or refuse to accept or sign for the package
- Shipments are delayed due to security or other regulatory delays, including permanent, routine or routine procedures in the recipient’s location
- Deliver within 90 minutes of the promised delivery time during peak seasons (for example, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and the last few weeks before Christmas)
(Please note that this is an incomplete list. Please see the FedEx Service Guide for a complete list of terms and conditions.)
