One of the benefits of PayPal is that it can be used in many countries, including Canada.
PayPal is actually the parent company of Venmo, but PayPal is used much more widely.
Registering PayPal in Canada is very similar to registering in the US. Just download the official app or visit paypal.com/ca/home.
Why is Venmo only in the US?
Venmo was first created in the US in 2009 and has only been supported within the US since then.
The Venmo app and website platform will not work if you are outside the United States.
This may be because it operates under some U.S. law or regulation that has nothing to do with elsewhere, although that remains unclear.
However, there are many other money transfer apps around the world, so you should be able to find one that works for you.
