Does Walgreens develop film? (film type, price, disposable cameras, etc.)
Walgreens is one of the largest drugstore chains in the United States, and most of its more than 8,000 stores across the country have dedicated “photo studios.”
Knowing that many people still use film cameras today, you might be wondering: Does Walgreens process film? Here’s everything I’ve found on the subject!
Does Walgreens develop film?
Select Walgreens stores offer “Photo Lab” processing of 35mm film for $14.99 per 24 exposures and a free photo CD of digital images. These can be ready for pickup within 3-5 business days. Some shops even process APS, 110 film, 127 film, negatives, and disposable cameras. Calling to check to see if your Walgreens offers this service is recommended prior to visiting.

What types of movies does Walgreens develop?
All Walgreens stores with photo labs can process 35mm film. However, some shops have the additional capacity of 110 and 127 prints.
You must contact your local Walgreens store ahead of time and ask if their photo studio develops these additional film types, as not all stores do.
Do Walgreens stores process film for disposable cameras?
Yes, some select Walgreens stores also use disposable or single-use camera film. However, since not all stores with photo shops offer this service, it’s best to call the store you’re going to visit and ask them beforehand.
How much does it cost to have film developed at Walgreens?
The standard price for developing 35mm film to 4×6 size is $14.99 for 24 exposures. You can also get 8×10 prints of the same film type for $3.99 each.
The table below shows the total cost for 12, 24, 27, 36 and 39 exposures for 35mm film and 4×6 print:
Note that Walgreens has not released official prices for 110 or 127 film, as not all stores offer developing services, so prices will vary.
How long does it take for Walgreens to process film?
Once you deposit your film in the photo lab at your local Walgreens store, it will be ready for pickup within 3-5 business days. The extended time is because Walgreens uses an outside supplier to process your film.
Do all Walgreens stores have photo galleries?
Most Walgreens stores have photo labs, so the film is developed. However, specialty stores such as stand-alone Walgreens pharmacies do not offer these services.
You can use the Walgreens store locator to find the location, contact details and hours of a store near you and call them to find out what they offer for film processing.
When can you drop off film at Walgreens Photo Labs?
You may send film to a Walgreens photo lab for processing anytime during normal business hours. This includes stores that are open 24 hours a day. You can also pick up processed film and photos at any time during normal business hours.
If you’re unsure of the normal hours of operation for a store near you, you can always use the Walgreens Store Locator to find the hours of operation for every store near you.
Do you have other options besides printing photos?
You can get a photo CD of all the prints from the film, as well as prints of the photos.
Earlier, this used to cost an extra $10.48 for a photo CD from film and $5.99 for a photo CD from negative.
However, Walgreens has now eliminated that extra fee and is offering a free photo CD with all the images included in the $14.99 you paid for 24 exposures.
Do you receive negatives or originals after processing?
No, you will not receive negatives or originals once developed. This is standard practice among retailers who develop film, that is, they dispose of the original film or negative after processing.
If you want to back up all your images, you can get a photo CD that contains all your photos in digital format. This comes free with the photo if you purchase the $14.99 base package for 24 exposures.
Are Walgreens Stores Negative?
Yes, most Walgreens stores with photo labs print images from negatives.
