IKEA Price Matching and Price Adjustment Policy (Everything You Need to Know)
IKEA prides itself on being able to offer very competitive prices to its millions of everyday customers. From bathrooms to kitchens to bedrooms, IKEA has just about every household need!
However, you might be wondering if IKEA offers a price match or price adjustment policy and how it works. Here’s everything I’ve managed to find out!
IKEA Price Adjustment Policy
IKEA does have a 45-day (90-day for IKEA family members) price adjustment policy that allows customers to get a partial refund of the price difference on items that have been marked down or marked down after purchase. IKEA does not send any alerts about price drops or changes, so customers must keep track of price changes after purchase.

How do you request an IKEA price match or price adjustment?
If you find that an IKEA product you bought has been marked down recently, you should go to your nearest IKEA store and ask for a price that matches the current price.
If you pay by card, you must make sure you have a receipt or other proof of purchase, along with the method of payment.
If your purchase is verified, then you’ll get money equal to the difference between the original price and the new reduced price.
If you received the money by credit or debit card, you should expect it to take at least ten days for the money to reach your bank account.
Does IKEA price adjust all products?
Unfortunately, IKEA will not be making price adjustments for all products. Here is a list of products and items for which IKEA is unable to adjust prices:
- As is product (used items sold from IKEA)
- Any furniture item or product that has been modified or altered since purchase
- Custom Kitchen Countertops
- All bedroom linen products (pillows, duvets, sheets, pillowcases, etc.)
- cut fabric
Are IKEA prices the same as other stores?
Unfortunately, IKEA’s prices don’t match any other store. This is mainly because all of IKEA’s furniture and products are designed in-house and are a specialty store. Therefore, IKEA can’t do price matching because no other retailer sells their products.
IKEA also wants to maintain price matching on its website and in-store, so price matching with local stores runs counter to that goal.
What is IKEA’s pricing strategy?
IKEA aims to keep prices low and affordable to attract customers who want quick and easy furniture for almost any need.
They are able to keep their prices low for a number of reasons. IKEA furniture is mostly flat-packed, requiring customers to assemble each piece themselves.
This saves IKEA the cost of hiring a craftsman, and also saves them considerable delivery costs, since the flat-pack furniture ensures multiple items are shipped in one go.
IKEA also uses recycled materials, which means they can keep costs down and do their part to help the environment.
Is IKEA good and cheap?
Although IKEA offers customers very competitive and value-for-money prices, they never skimp on quality.
This is reflected in their 365-day return policy, which guarantees that customers will receive a refund or exchange for any inferior workmanship, which means a certain level of confidence in their own products.
Of course, IKEA’s mass production and convenience means their products don’t have the same prestigious reputation as something artisan built, and probably won’t be as durable.
However, IKEA customers have expressed satisfaction with some IKEA products over the years, provided the products are properly cared for.

Conclusion – IKEA Price Matching and Price Adjustment Policy
IKEA is willing to price its range of products. If an item drops in price shortly after a customer buys it at full price, they are eligible to receive the difference as a refund.
IKEA does not price match other stores.
