Since Walmart does not employ third-party sellers, you may sometimes want to return an item purchased from Walmart Stores, and you may be wondering – what is Walmart’s store return policy? Here’s what I found!
Walmart Marketplace Return Policy
Walmart will return most products purchased from Marketplace sellers within 30 days of delivery, with a 14-day return period for electronics (computers, cameras, printers, drones, etc.). Products such as air conditioners, chainsaws and compressors cannot be returned in-store. Shipping charges may apply upon return.

How do you return a Walmart Marketplace item by mail?
Returning items by mail is the most direct way to send unwanted items to Walmart Stores sellers.
You can follow the same procedure as a regular Walmart return to complete the following steps:
- Log in to your walmart.com account and select the product to return
- Enter a reason for return and choose whether to return or exchange
- Select “Return by Mail” and review the information provided
- Attach a printable shipping label to your package, making sure to include all accessories
- Drop off your package at a nearby FedEx or USPS location.
Note that you may be charged shipping costs to return the item to the Walmart Store seller.
Can you return a Walmart Marketplace item without a receipt?
No receipt or invoice is required when registering a Walmart Marketplace return online because the product and payment information is already stored in Walmart’s database.
However, if you do not have the original receipt, you may need to provide additional proof of purchase for in-store returns.
If you pay with any credit/debit card, check, or gift card, Walmart can track your purchase. Be sure to bring the original form of payment and a valid government-issued photo ID for verification.

This is because Walmart Marketplace has a variety of sellers such as Hasbro, Fanatics, Dell, US Autoparts, Toms, Eddie Bauer, IKEA, etc., and each seller may have a different return policy and window.
To ensure a consistent customer experience, Walmart enforces a maximum of 14 days for returns of electronic products and a maximum of 30 days for returns of standard products from marketplace sellers.

If you don’t have a printer, Walmart will happily print any shipping labels you need to complete your return.
Also, make sure to package items sold by sellers on different marketplaces separately in case you return multiple items.
What happens if a Walmart marketplace seller doesn’t respond?
You can initiate a conversation with a Walmart Marketplace seller from your Walmart.com account.
Third-party merchants must reply within 48 hours and keep a copy of the email to improve customer experience and resolve disputes.
However, if the Walmart Marketplace seller does not respond after 48 hours, Walmart’s customer service will step in and give the merchant the opportunity to provide a solution or provide a new solution.
How long does it take for a Walmart marketplace refund?
Refunds may take up to 10 business days to arrive, depending on your banking institution.
Refunds for in-store returns are usually processed when the product is received at the store, while returns initiated through Walmart customer service are usually processed when the package is scanned by the carrier.
For mail-in returns, keep an eye on the tracking information, as refunds will be issued within 48 hours of your package being received by the merchant.
Can you return an item purchased from Walmart Canada?
In-store returns are accepted for purchases of 150 Canadian Dollars (CAD) or less from Walmart Canada Store. You will need to contact the third-party seller regarding returns of items with a value greater than $150.
Please note that you cannot return the following devices in-store to Canada Marketplace sellers:
- Outdoor fuel powered equipment
- Hazardous goods (dangerous goods, chemicals, compressed gases or liquids, etc.)

How do you identify what a Walmart Marketplace seller is selling?
You can determine if a Marketplace merchant sells the product you’re viewing on Walmart.com by the seller’s name under the Sold & Shipped tab, and reliable sellers are marked with the Pro Seller badge.

What is the Walmart Marketplace Return Promise?
Although Walmart Stores is a safe place to shop, the Returns Promise gives customers peace of mind when purchasing from an outsourced company.
As part of this, Walmart will provide refunds up to 90 days after the estimated delivery date if a Marketplace product does not arrive.
Additionally, if the item does not ship to the address you provided, or if you receive a product that is not what you expected and the seller refuses you to return it, Walmart will address these issues.
