Aldi organic products (produce, bread, dairy, pantry, etc.)
The USDA Organic label is the US government’s mark indicating that a product is composed of at least 95% organic ingredients and, in the case of food, grown without the use of chemicals or genetic engineering.
For many shoppers, the name is an important signal that they pay special attention to what’s in their food, and by extension, their bodies.
Aldi’s business model is to offer the lowest possible prices for everyday items, but you might be wondering if that includes organic food. Does Aldi sell organic produce at its signature budget prices? continue reading!
Does Aldi sell organic products?
Aldi sells organic products including a wide range of fresh produce, meat, food and snacks, dairy, frozen meals and even drinks. For the most part, Aldi has priced its organic food below its rivals, and while its current organic line remains relatively limited, the company continues to add to it.
Read on to find out how to spot Aldi’s organic products, what organic products they sell and what you can expect to pay – I think you’ll be surprised and impressed!
How do you know what Aldi’s organic is?
To find organic products at Aldi, look for Simply Organic and USDA Organic not only on the product packaging, but also on the shipping package for personal rides.
Organic products are packaged in bold green cardboard with “ORGANIC” printed on the front, or in typical brown cardboard with a bold green “ORGANIC” logo.
While the Simply Organic and USDA Organic labels are indicators of packaged goods, some products, such as Aldi’s extensive organic produce selection, are not packaged.
In this case, there are a few things you can look for. First, the signage: Aldi stores clearly indicate that the item is organic on a sign belonging to an individual fruit or vegetable, with either the text or the USDA Organic logo, or both.
Second, the labeling of the individual items themselves. Bananas, for example, are labeled organic on the little stickers affixed to each piece of fruit.
What organic food does Aldi sell?
As mentioned, there are various organic basics in many divisions of Aldi.
Below are the products listed in this department; keep in mind this is not a comprehensive list and individual store selections will vary.

frozen food
- bagged vegetables
- bagged fruit
- pizza
Frozen veggies are a lifesaver on busy weeknights and can be carried on the go, and some of them can even be microwaved/steamed in a bag—very handy.
dairy products
- free range eggs
- butter
- soy milk
- Plain/vanilla yogurt
- Vanilla Greek Yogurt
- milk (Overall and 2%)
- sliced deli cheese

Aldi’s organic dairy range is sure to please most milk and cheese lovers.
One Redditor even singled out Simply Nature whole milk, saying, “It stays fresh in my fridge, and when I open it, it’s been two months past its sell-by date. I’ve smelled it, tasted it, and Everything. Ultra pasteurized is amazing.”
drinks
If you have a coffee bean grinder, Aldi’s organic whole bean coffee is worth a try. It’s a bit more expensive than their non-organic whole bean bags, but still less than $6 — and much cheaper than a similar Starbucks bag, which costs over $8.
Meat
- Grass Fed Ground Beef
- chicken breast
It’s also worth mentioning that Aldi has launched a range of organic adjacent meats under Never Any! Label.
there has never been! is a line of products certified by the USDA to contain no antibiotics, no added hormones or steroids, and no animal by-product meat.
The line includes chicken, chicken sausage, charcuterie and bacon.
Is Aldi’s organic food expensive?
Organic food often comes with a price tag, and at Aldi, organic food is indeed more expensive than regular produce.
That said, Aldi’s biggest competitor in the organic food market is Whole Foods — and their shoppers are exactly the kind of shoppers Aldi is trying to win over. They aim to do this by expanding their organic line and selling similar products at lower prices.
Take their 5-ounce bags of baby spinach for $2.49. The Whole Foods tab costs $3.49, a full dollar more.
Another comparison: Aldi’s organic beef broth costs $1.79 for a 32-ounce bottle; Whole Foods is again $1 more.
When CNBC published an article comparing the prices of organic products at Aldi, Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods, Whole Foods undervalued Aldi in some cases.
That was in 2019, but since then, Aldi appears to have stepped up its price competition.
Is Aldi’s organic good?
Overall, Aldi’s organic food is popular and of good quality, especially considering the price.
Aldi’s free-range chicken, in particular, has received rave reviews; one commenter on the r/Aldi subreddit said, “This chicken feels different and tastes great. It’s soft and melts in your mouth, like a real chicken breast Like meat…”
Aldi products also received high marks, with a Parade writer highlighting organic baby carrots, grape tomatoes and spring mixes.
However, a blogger at stockpilingmoms.com made a point about produce, saying that because stores like Whole Foods are more focused on organic, their fresh inventory may be replaced more frequently.
As such, the authors warn shoppers that Aldi organics may be on the shelves a little longer.
That’s a fair point, but Aldi gets new truck loads every day, and they rotate their stock so the oldest products are on top and the new ones are buried below.
If buying organic is important to you, you should try Aldi’s range.
It costs less to do so than other supermarkets, and if anything doesn’t meet your quality standards, you get Aldi’s double-good return policy: you’ll get a replacement and your money back.
Where is Aldi’s organic food?
Unlike some grocery stores, where organic food is segregated in its own section, Aldi stores don’t have enough room for this setup. So organics are on the same shelf as all the other products.
Aldi is trying to push more organic products
The secret was out: Aldi realized that a significant portion of their shoppers actually came from middle- and upper-class families — families where special dietary considerations were more prevalent.
As a result, Aldi began expanding its organic line in 2018.
This means a 40% increase in the availability of their Simply Nature label on store shelves.
Aldi’s website describes the Simply Nature range as “all organic or Non-GMO Project Verified”, free of “any added artificial ingredients and preservatives”, and can be identified by its tan and green label and USDA organic logo.
These artificial ingredients include artificial flavors, artificial colors, high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated oils.
The Simply Nature range is also guaranteed to be free of over 125 of the most popular chemical additives (full list can be found here).
So while Aldi already has a ton of organic produce, keep an eye on the shelves as more organic products are likely to be flocking to us!

in conclusion
Given the size and scope of Aldi stores, the German supermarket sells a wide range of organic products for health-conscious shoppers.
Aldi’s organic food is just one part of the company’s overall business model: Approach grocery shopping with a “simplicity” attitude, make the process as efficient as possible, cut costs by selling mostly private-label items, and then pass the savings on to consumption or customers.
I can’t wait to see what organic products Aldi has in store for the next few years as the company grows to become the third largest grocer in the US
