Does USPS deliver on Sunday? (first class, priority, delivery time and more)
In today’s fast-paced world, we’ve become accustomed to 24/7 access – news, shopping, and even dining options.
So it’s no surprise that Sunday isn’t the day of rest and relaxation that it used to be. You might even see a USPS truck out your window on a Sunday.

Does USPS deliver on Sunday?
The USPS does make some deliveries on Sundays, often including Priority Express Mail as well as Amazon packages. However, USPS does not currently deliver First Class or Priority mail on Sundays. Does USPS deliver first class mail on Sundays?
Unfortunately, the US Postal Service does not deliver First-Class mail on Sundays.
When we think “regular” mail, we think First-Class mail — letters, bills, anything with a stamp or two attached to it.
Additionally, First-Class mail is designed for mail that is not in a hurry to reach its destination.
Therefore, First-Class mail is not considered a priority for Sunday delivery.
Does USPS deliver Priority Mail on Sundays?
Like First-Class delivery, USPS does not deliver Priority Mail on Sundays. However, Priority Express Mail will deliver on Sunday.
The difference between Priority Mail and Priority Mail Express is shipping time and price.
For example, Priority Mail ships within 1-3 business days and there is no guarantee beyond that.
Priority Express, however, is a different story.
This service is for people who need to get their items to their destination as quickly as possible, which is why USPS can offer Priority Express service on Sundays.
Depending on your location and the recipient’s location, you can choose next-day or 2-day delivery with a guaranteed delivery by 6pm (or your money back).
The USPS website says that next-day delivery is available to most addresses in the US, and this seems to be especially true for postcard-sized mail and Flat Rate envelopes.
However, if you’re shipping next day via Priority Express on a Saturday, it’s guaranteed to arrive on Sunday — for a fee.
As for the price for this service, it’s $12.50 in addition to the base fee for next-day or 2-day delivery.
(This is the same charge you would incur if you delivered on a bank holiday.)
Priority Express also includes tracking and insurance, plus a guarantee that you’ll get your money back if the mail doesn’t arrive at its destination by 6:30pm on the estimated date.
How much does USPS Sunday delivery cost?
If you send an item via Priority Express and the estimated delivery date falls on a Sunday, you will incur a base fee of $26.35 and a Sunday Surcharge of $12.50.
But remember, the base fee is the cheapest price for the lightest weight; the heavier your package, the more you’ll pay.

Priority Express is the only Sunday delivery service offered by USPS domestically.
In 2013, however, the Postal Service struck a deal with Amazon to deliver packages on Sundays.
This started with several larger cities and has since expanded to include larger areas of the United States
Even better, there’s no extra charge for Sunday Amazon deliveries.
What time does USPS deliver mail on Sunday?
Delivery times will vary, but if you have sent (or expected to receive) an item via Priority Express, USPS guarantees it will arrive by 6:30pm on the scheduled date
If not, the sender is eligible for a full refund.
For Amazon packages, another type of mail that USPS delivers on Sundays, the company leaves a large delivery window.
If you check the delivery status of your package, you may see the time extended to 8, 9 or 10 PM
But chances are good; you’ll get your package sooner than that.
According to USPSinfo.com, Sunday mail carriers aren’t your regular customers throughout the week; instead, they’re “temporary workers” who work Sundays for some extra money.

Monday through Saturday are considered normal business days by the USPS, but Sunday is a normal business day that full-time postal workers can rest assured.
