Are IKEA kitchen products dishwasher safe? [Plates, Glasses, Bowls, Pans, Mugs + More]
IKEA is known for its range of versatile, durable kitchenware. However, you may be wondering if IKEA kitchen appliances and products are dishwasher safe.
I did a lot of research and this is what I found!
Are IKEA kitchen products dishwasher safe?
Yes, most IKEA plates, bowls and mugs made of ceramic, tempered glass and polypropylene plastic are dishwasher safe like most glassware, including glasses, wine glasses, flutes and serving bowls. Delicate IKEA products, such as aluminum pans and non-stick coated pans, should be hand washed only.
IKEA usually states whether an item requires hand washing. However, if you can’t recognize the dishwasher safe sign, you may need to wash it by hand.
Alternatively, you can quickly find items online or via the IKEA app.
Simply enter a unique name for the product and go to the product details tab. Safety information will be listed under Materials and Care.
Are children’s plates, bowls and cutlery safe in the dishwasher?
Yes, IKEA children’s plates, bowls, mugs and cutlery are dishwasher safe. Children’s products are made of polypropylene or PLA plastic and can withstand dishwasher temperatures up to 158°F/70°C.
Consider choosing an eco-friendly detergent to ensure dishwasher temperatures stay cool.
For added convenience, IKEA lunch boxes are often designed in polypropylene plastic, so they’re dishwasher safe.
All products specially designed for children are strictly tested to ensure safety before entering the market.
Can I put china plates, bowls and mugs in the dishwasher?
IKEA’s china plates, bowls, mugs and bakeware are specially crafted from feldspar porcelain for extra durability.
Therefore, these products are dishwasher safe, which is very convenient considering that the products need to be washed before use.
Are IKEA plates, bowls and mugs made of ceramic dishwasher safe?
Yes, ceramic materials such as bone china and stoneware are widely used to make plates, bowls and mugs for durability.
If you regularly use your dishwasher at high temperatures, painted designs or colors may start to fade.
At IKEA you’ll find a range of 18-piece dinner sets, such as the DINERA and IKEA 365+, which are made of ceramic and therefore dishwasher safe.
Are IKEA plastic food containers and cutting boards dishwasher safe?
Yes, most plastic food containers are made from polypropylene, which is known to be dishwasher safe. Likewise, the plastic cutting board is also dishwasher safe.
At IKEA, most plastic containers are designed to withstand heat up to 212°F/100°C. Fortunately, most high-efficiency dishwashers run between 120°F/49°C – 190°F/88°C.
Can I put bamboo products in the dishwasher?
No, bamboo bowls, salad plates or cutting boards cannot be put in the dishwasher.
Bamboo products are made by a method that glues and flattens the material together, which makes them vulnerable to the heat of the dishwasher.
Also, heavy water pressure may affect the overall quality of the product.
Luckily, BLANDA Serving Bamboo Bowls are also available in glass and metal that are dishwasher safe.
Is IKEA metal cutlery safe in the dishwasher?
Yes, for best results, place stainless steel utensils in the dishwasher to effectively remove grease and bacteria. IKEA cutlery sets are specially designed to minimize the risk of corrosion, so you don’t have to worry about which dishwasher tabs to use.
Which IKEA glass items are dishwasher safe?
Customers will be happy to know that many IKEA glasses, wine glasses and flutes made of glass or crystal are dishwasher safe.
If you’re worried about fragile or intricately designed glasses like INBJUDEN flutes or SÄLLSKAPLIG wine glasses, just keep them safe on the top shelf.
Can I put IKEA tempered glass plates, bowls and mugs in the dishwasher?
Yes, many of the best-selling IKEA plates, bowls, and mugs are made of tempered glass because they resist sudden changes in heat.
Although delicate to the touch, tempered glass products are dishwasher safe. Plus, the tempered glass panels are designed to have a smooth sheen to withstand the dishwasher.
Is IKEA cookware dishwasher safe?
Rubber utensils such as the silicone-based GUBBRÖRA spatula, the FULLÄNDAD polyamide cutlery set, the stainless steel GRUNKA and the non-electric IKEA mixer are all dishwasher-safe.
Can I put IKEA pots and pans in the dishwasher?
Stainless steel cookware pots and lids are dishwasher safe; your main problem will be finding a suitable place for them.
Aluminum pans and creations, on the other hand, require hand washing. You’ll also want to hand wash the skillet with the nonstick coating to keep it functional.
Which IKEA kitchen and dining products are not dishwasher safe?
Glassware products such as STORSNIT carafes or most glass vases are marked as hand wash only due to their fragility and unique shape.
Also, KORKEN jars and bottles should be cleaned by hand to avoid damaging the stainless steel or silicone lids. Alternatively, sterilize the product with hot water.
Slicing tools such as the sharp IKEA 365+ knife set should be hand washed with the KEA 365+ mandolin slicer as the dishwasher may damage the sharp edges. Aluminum products are also not dishwasher safe.
