Black Friday Amazon 2023 (dates, products + are they cheap?)
Big e-commerce retailer Amazon hosts exciting sales throughout the year, but the site has a way of making Black Friday especially important for deal hunters.
Ultimately, the way to get the best deal is to know the ins and outs of the event.
This includes when it starts and ends, how long it lasts, which items have the biggest discounts, and even how to search for the item you want.
So, if you want to make the most of this sale, read our complete guide to Black Friday on Amazon right here!
When does Amazon Black Friday start?
Amazon’s Black Friday event is expected to kick off on Friday, November 19. No, you read that right!
While Black Friday is November 26, I expect Amazon to kick off its big event a week before the actual date.
They did so in 2020 when they announced that the sale would run from November 20-27.
I can’t imagine them going back to a more limited form, especially considering how successful the week-long sale was last year.
How long are the Amazon Black Friday 2023 deals?
In 2023, Amazon’s Black Friday sales are expected to run for a full week, from Friday, November 19th to November 26th at 12 noon (aka Black Friday itself).
I think that’s a smart move; it gives shoppers more time to specify what they want and convince them to buy it.
What are the Amazon Black Friday deals?
Amazon got some flak this past Black Friday for allegedly showing its products before anyone else, especially small businesses.
However, since this is their website, you can always expect to find the top deals on their many digital devices.
These include:
- Echo devices with Alexa, including Echos, Echo Dots, Echo Dot with Clock, Echo Show
- Kindles (e-readers), including standard products and Fires
- fire stick
- Ring the video doorbell
I wouldn’t be surprised to see these discounts as high as 50% in some cases, but beyond that there’s a healthy 20-40% off.
Of course, the Amazon brand now extends far beyond digital devices.
According to various shoppers, shoppers can look forward to deals on AmazonBasic-labeled items, including:
- game component
- Office Supplies
- Mattress
- furniture
- dog supplies
- skin care
- Nutraceuticals
- Snacks and Pantry Essentials
- men’s and women’s fashion
In addition to the extensive Amazon product listings, we expect to see great sales on other products as well. Here are just a few product categories where shoppers can save big.
- Fashion
- Beauty and Personal Hygiene
- toys and games
- family
- kitchen
- office
- home improvement
- Electronics (including TVs and gaming accessories!)
- tool
- lawn and garden
- home appliances
- sporting goods
- outdoor equipment
- Books of course!
- pet supplies
- 3D printer
- Scientific Instruments
- car
- Whole Foods Discounts
- Amazon gift cards and credit cards
- Warehouse / Wow!trade
Plus, Prime members still get free Prime Shipping on applicable items.
Depending on where you are, this might even mean one-day or same-day delivery on top of all these amazing deals!
Get something that isn’t quite what you expected or hoped for.
Amazon Black Friday also includes an extended return window; this year will likely run until the end of January 2022, just like last year.
What to buy on Amazon Black Friday?
I believe Amazon products like Echo devices and Kindles are some of the best buys during the Black Friday sale.
Sometimes, older model Dots are marked down by 40% to 50% off!
There are also deep discounts on electronics, including TVs and laptops.
Amazon’s Black Friday event is also a great time to snap up small kitchen appliances (think: air fryers, Instant Pots).
I also saw great deals on beauty and hygiene products — cosmetics, hair tools, electric toothbrushes, and more.
Is Amazon Black Friday really cheap?
Good news – Amazon does offer lower prices on thousands of items for Black Friday.
A price comparison research site found that Black Friday deals on Amazon are even cheaper than Prime Day deals 30 percent of the time.
If the thought of overpaying (sometimes the price goes up ahead of the sale so it looks like a discount even though it’s not) annoys you, there are a few things you can do.
First, if you know exactly what you want, put it in your cart a week or two before the sale starts.
Every time you open your cart, you should be notified if the price has changed. Watch to see if it goes up in the days leading up to the Black Friday sale.
Some numerous websites and apps track commodity prices. For example, using CamelCamelCamel will tell you if the TV you’re watching is really a good deal.
Is Black Friday a great time to buy appliances on Amazon?
Black Friday is a great time to buy appliances on Amazon, much smaller kitchen appliances!
The world is crazy about air fryers and Instant Pots, two appliances that are usually on sale when Amazon is on sale.
Is Black Friday a great time to buy furniture on Amazon?
I don’t think Black Friday is the best time to buy furniture on Amazon.
From BlackerFriday.com’s listing, only Zinus furniture was selected for the discount (and only 30% off selected furniture).
You might have better luck with Wayfair during the Black Friday sale (and they usually offer fast, free shipping too).
Is Black Friday a great time to buy gadgets on Amazon?
Black Friday is definitely a great time to buy gadgets on Amazon, especially Amazon-branded ones.
While the sale prices might not drop as low as they did on Prime Day, they’re pretty close, and the discounts and fast Prime shipping are well worth it.
Amazon is also expected to discount popular Apple products such as Airpods, watches and iPads, smart home products (smart light bulbs, doorbells, etc.) and phone accessories.
How to search for Amazon Black Friday deals?
There are multiple ways to search for the best Black Friday deals on Amazon.
Some of them can even bring you deals—no legwork on your part.
If you want to sit back and let Amazon tell you what’s on sale (and then decide if you’re interested), you can sign up to receive text alerts or push notifications from the Amazon app.
There are also deal sites and Facebook groups — I’m partial to Cheap As Bleep on Facebook — that scour the site for the best deals.
You can join the Cheap As Bleep Facebook page and turn on notifications for the parent post of each Black Friday deal when it goes live.
This will ensure you see all the different deals and discounts every day of the week.
If you prefer to go treasure hunting on your own, here are some helpful and handy tips.
know what you want
The sheer volume of transactions means that if you enter an app or website without any purpose or direction, you’ll be overwhelmed.
So, instead, list items you’re already interested in. This can be a general product (such as a 55-inch TV) or a specific item.
Either way, you can type the name of the actual product into the search bar instead of getting bogged down in an infinite maze of Amazon’s main divisions.
Shop Lightning Deals
Lightning Deals are limited-time sales on desirable products that usually only last a few hours at most.
These are probably some of the most lucrative discounts, and are a good place to start if you don’t have a particular item.
One thing I like about these is that Amazon does categorize them by department.
So if you vaguely know that you’re interested in seeing deals on TV, you can navigate to Electronics, then TV, and you’ll see all the relevant lightning deals.
Shop directly on Amazon
Jeffrey van Camp of Wired.com also has a great search tip: After entering a search term and receiving results, set the seller filter to Amazon.com.
With Amazon as a seller, you are likely to see better quality products with more reliable results.
I would also add a four star rating and an upwards filter. You can trust an item to be good if thousands of people say it.
Is there an option to pay in installments on Amazon Black Friday?
As far as I know, Amazon still offers convenient, interest-free installment plans for certain items during sales holidays like Black Friday and Prime Day.
Doesn’t it say anywhere in the full monthly payment terms and conditions that the plan is exempt in these events?
So if you opt for an installment plan and pay less each month, you might benefit more from Amazon’s Black Friday deals.
How does Amazon Black Friday work?
Amazon’s Black Friday event is a week-long series of sales, discounts and deals.
Starting the week before official Black Friday, which runs from November 19th to November 26th, Amazon will mark up a ton of items.
Shoppers don’t have to be a Prime member to benefit from the deal, but Prime members get early exclusive access to Lightning Deals and free Prime shipping.
when amazon Black Friday over?
Amazon Black Friday is expected to end on Friday, November 26 at 12 noon.
That’s the actual Black Friday date, but don’t worry — if you know Amazon, you know that while the event may technically end, it’s unlikely the deals will disappear that day.
With Cyber Monday right at the peak of the weekend, don’t be surprised if many, if not all, deals remain active on Saturday and Sunday as well.
How long does Amazon Black Friday last?
Amazon Black Friday is expected to last a full week, from November 19th to November 26th.
While Amazon hasn’t officially announced the length of this year’s event, based on last year’s event, it seems likely the company will follow the same format.

in conclusion
Amazon’s Black Friday deals are always impressive, and they’re shaping up to be another wow factor.
While Prime members get the biggest bang for their buck, with early access to deals and Amazon’s fast, free shipping, non-members can still take advantage of the low prices.
Remember, from November 19-26, you’ll have a full week to find and shop for the upcoming holiday season — or treat yourself.
