How do I resend a UPS package?
The first step in resending a UPS package is to create a free UPS My Choice account.
To create an account, visit this page, click the “Sign Up” link, and fill out all the requested information.
After creating a UPS My Choice account, the next step is to log in and view your package.
UPS automatically compiles a list of all current packages associated with the address you registered for your UPS My Choice account.
If you don’t see the package you’re looking for, double check that your UPS My Choice account has the same address as the package you’re looking for!
Once you find the package you want to reroute, click the Delivery Options button.
If you don’t see it, your shipper may have restricted this option, but you can contact them to fix it!
After clicking on “Shipping Options”, simply follow the prompts to change the delivery location.
UPS will provide you with a variety of locations to choose from, including nearby UPS Access Points, UPS Customer Centers, and UPS Store locations.
UPS My Choice also allows you to change other delivery options, such as the date or time your package is delivered, and offers the option to keep your package while you’re away!
Can you reschedule a UPS package that has already been shipped?
You can resend a shipped UPS package!
In fact, most of the rerouted packages have already shipped.
The only stipulation for rerouting a package is that it usually needs to be done 24 hours before the stated delivery date.
This is done to avoid UPS wasting time and resources preparing the package and loading it, only to have it returned to the facility or dropped outside the original delivery area.
For example, let’s say you want to reroute a package to the UPS access point next to your work so it doesn’t sit on your doorstep for too long.
As long as you make this change the day before the package is delivered, no problem!
However, if you attempt to reroute the same package on the same day it was originally delivered, the UPS system will not accept your request, or you will have to pay a fee to reroute it.
How much does UPS charge for rescheduling packages?
Generally, if you have a UPS My Choice account and redeliver your package to a UPS location at least 24 hours before the delivery date, UPS will not charge for the redelivery of the package.
Most rerouting requests tend to fall into this category, but there are some exceptions where UPS will charge a small fee to reroute certain packages.
One case where UPS charges for package redelivery is if the package is redelivered to a different address than a UPS Access Point, UPS Customer Center, or UPS Store.
This fee typically ranges from $4 to $6, depending on how far the new address is outside the original delivery area.
Another situation where UPS will charge you a package redelivery fee is if you need to redeliver a package within 24 hours of the scheduled delivery date.
If UPS does accept your request to reschedule a package that is due in 24 hours or less, you will be charged a fee ranging from $6 to $15, depending on where you reschedule the package.
Please note that UPS reserves the right to charge shipping charges in addition to the above charges if the address you provide is further away than normal.
