Does Walgreens offer prescriptions?
Walgreens provides prescriptions through 4 separate services. Express and standard online shipping are free and deliver to prescriptions within 1-2 and 5-10 business days. Expedited online shipping costs $12.95 and takes 2 business days, while overnight shipping costs $19.95 and takes 1 business day.

Walgreens has 4 shipping options:
- Walgreens ExpressTM Delivery
- Standard Online Shipping
- Expedited Online Shipping
- Overnight Online Shipping

Does Walgreens offer free prescription drug delivery?
Yes, Walgreens offers 2 free prescription delivery services:
- Walgreens ExpressTM Free Shipping and arrives within 1-2 business days. However, Walgreens does not provide this service directly. Instead, all ExpressTM delivery orders are fulfilled by FedEx from your local pharmacy.
- Standard Online Shipping is free shipping from Walgreens. Note however that this will take 5-10 business days, so do take this into account.
How do you get your prescriptions filled by Walgreens?
After filling your prescription through Walgreens’ online pharmacy solution, select “shipped to you” on the checkout page before completing your order and paying for it.
This will prompt you to choose one of the three online shipping services I detailed above.
Here, make your selection based on how much you’re willing to pay for delivery and how many days you’re willing to wait (see table above for details).
That’s it! You can proceed to make the payment and complete the order.
Note that if you wish to use Walgreens Express, you must follow a different procedure.
How do you sign up for Walgreens Express Delivery?
Walgreens Express delivery is done by FedEx, so it has a different process for those who want to use it.
You must be “registered” with Walgreens Express to use this delivery service.
All you have to do is join the SMS notification service by texting JoinRx to 21525.
After doing this, you will be registered with the express service and able to use it.
How do you use Walgreens Express Delivery?
To choose express delivery, go to the Order Status page when your prescription is ready and click “Use Walgreens Express” when asked how you would like to receive your prescription.
Or, you can select “Walgreens Express” when you receive a text or email notification that your prescription is ready.
This saves a lot of hassle by automatically saving and launching your preferred delivery services.
Are all prescriptions eligible for delivery?
Most prescription drugs can be delivered, but some cannot.
These include prescriptions involving controlled substances (such as temperature-controlled substances) or those funded by insurance plans or health care plans.
For more details, call your local Walgreens pharmacy and ask them about the substances in your prescription and whether they are eligible for delivery.
How do you know your prescription is ready?
You can find out if your prescription is ready by going to the Order Status page on the Walgreens website.
