Many of these users choose Apple Pay at more than 2 million stores in the United States. But is Walmart adopting Apple Pay like thousands of other companies? Here’s what we found!
Does Walmart accept Apple Pay?
Unfortunately, Walmart doesn’t accept Apple Pay in any of their stores. Customers can use their iPhones to make purchases through Walmart Pay at checkouts and self-checkout lanes. Walmart only accepts payments via MasterCard, Visa, Check, PayPal, American Express and cash.

How to pay with your iPhone at Walmart Pay with Walmart Pay
If you’re an iPhone user and still want a quick and easy way to pay for products at Walmart from your smartphone, you’re in luck!
To do this, you must download the Walmart Pay app to your iPhone (link to the iOS app here), sign up for a free account, and connect your debit/credit card to the Walmart Pay app.

To use the Walmart Pay app, simply pick up your item at the cashier or self-checkout lane and scan the QR code when the final total appears.
After scanning the QR code, you will be taken directly to the app where you can pay by debit/credit card!
Similar to Apple Pay, payments will be made instantly, and as a bonus, you’ll get an electronic receipt within the app for safekeeping!
While Walmart Pay isn’t as seamless as Apple Pay, it’s still the next best option for allowing customers to pay digitally without having to carry a wallet or wallet with them.
Why doesn’t Walmart accept Apple Pay?
Before the company launched Walmart Pay, they had another reason not to accept Apple Pay. This is because they are allegiance to a company called Merchant Customer Exchange or MCX.
The company (MCX) only uses a payment solution that uses a QR code called CurrentC. Since MXC is a direct competitor to Apple Pay, Walmart doesn’t use it, as well as Google Pay and Samsung Pay.
In addition, another reason Walmart refuses to accept Apple Pay is that they cannot capture any data when customers shop.
This information is valuable because it allows Walmart to send customized recommendations and notifications to customers using the Walmart Pay app.
Will Walmart get Apple Pay?
Walmart has no plans to accept Apple Pay in the future, according to a Walmart spokesperson. Since Walmart Pay is built into the Walmart app on your iPhone, there really isn’t a need for Apple Pay and the associated fees.
Which stores accept Apple Pay?
While you can’t use Apple Pay at Walmart, there are Thousands of other stores Here you can use your iPhone to pay for groceries and other items.
For example, 7-Eleven and CVS now accept Apple Pay at checkout. They’ve been against the app, but recently gave in. Here are some other retailers that accept Apple Pay:

And since so many people shop primarily online these days, you can use a variety of methods to pay for your items at all stores. But you can also use Apple Pay online at many stores. Some of these include:

- Dunkin’ Donuts
- ebay
- Fandango
- Lyft
- Panera
- Sephora
- Starbucks
- Uber
- hope

Walmart customers can choose Apple Pay
Interestingly, there is actually a way to use your Apple Pay app at Walmart. With the ibotta app and extension, you can actually use your Apple Pay app. To use ibotta successfully, all you have to do is:
- Download the ibotta app and extension to your phone
- Then select the Apple Pay option when paying through the ibotta app in the store or the home extension on your computer
Ibotta is a cash back rewards eCorp with up to 2% back on every purchase. However, it is only available for certain items and certain stores. and You have to find items and deals on your phone before you shop.
But when you use it, you can use your Apple Pay and get instant cash back (by saving 2%), all you have to do is show the QR code to the cashier.
Confirm financing options are also available
In addition to these options, if you shop online at Walmart, you also have the option to use Affirm. Affirm is an installment payment method like other credit payment methods.
With this financing app, you can get financing on the spot if you qualify and pay off your balance within 3, 6 or 12 months.
Confirming an e-commerce loan option is similar to installment payments, and you don’t have to pay interest on many items. However, projects that do not qualify for this option may have an Annual Percentage Rate (APR) of 10% to 30%. The amount of APR depends on your credit.

If you don’t already have the Walmart app, Please follow the steps below to download the app So you can start paying with your iPhone at their checkout.
- Go to the Apple App Store on your iPhone and enter Walmart Pay in the search bar
- Select the Walmart Pay app and start the download process
- Once downloaded, open the app and go to the Services screen
- Click Walmart Pay > Set up Walmart Pay
- Follow the simple on-screen instructions to register any card or cards you want to buy at Walmart
- At checkout, you simply scan the QR code to pay for your item
Why is using Apple Pay so beneficial?
When you choose to pay for your items with Apple Pay, you don’t have to worry about anyone getting your PIN because there isn’t one. Also, there is no chip or card reader in your phone for people to steal at your checkout.
You can also use Face ID or Touch ID to make it even more secure. With Face ID, your face can be scanned using three types of sensors.
Unless you have twins, you will be the only one who can pay with this phone. Touch ID is done with your fingerprint, and not even your twin can fake it.
Another benefit of using Apple Pay is that you don’t have to worry about saving receipts. Apple Pay does it for you. Every transaction is stored privately on your phone, but can only be accessed through the security you choose, such as:

With every purchase, you get an instant refund. You also get 2% cash back if you use your Apple Card with Apple Pay. So anyway, you’re already saving money with the card, and you’ll save an extra 2% with Apple Pay.
