What kind of car keys does Walmart copy?
If you have an older car with a metal key that you can put in the ignition to start it, Walmart has you covered. These keys are easy to replace and generally only take a few minutes to complete.
If you drive a new car with RFID or transponder chip keys, Walmart cannot make these keys in their stores. This is because car dealers have made it so that no one but them can issue those keys.
This is for security reasons, as the key must be programmed to a specific code for the car brand, which can be used to break into many cars if it falls into the wrong hands.
Are your car keys still working, but perhaps the key or button used to unlock the car is broken? Walmart does sell replacement keys; however, they must be purchased and programmed by a dealer or locksmith before they will work.

These machines also cannot duplicate any keys that are used on restricted properties (such as public schools) or that are marked “do not duplicate.”
