Can you ship dogs via FedEx?
FedEx Express does not accept live animal shipments as part of its regular service. Additionally, the company does not ship household pets such as dogs, cats, birds or hamsters.
Given that FedEx Express doesn’t ship pets, it goes without saying that FedEx Ground doesn’t either.
This is because ground shipping may take 1 to 5 business days. It is inhumane and unacceptable to keep animals housed for such a long time.
If you need to ship your pet, your best bet is to contact a pet shipping company to help coordinate and facilitate your pet’s transportation.
Which animals can you ship with FedEx?
While FedEx does not ship household pets, the company can ship some animals.
For example, FedEx Express accepts live animals such as horses, livestock, and zoo animals on a case-by-case basis (to and from zoo locations only).
To do this, the shipper must be approved by the FedEx Animal Desk. A representative of the department can be reached at 1.800.405.9052.
FedEx may also exceptionally accept non-toxic reptiles, amphibians, fish, and beneficial insects, provided they:
- Goods from business to business (e.g. from breeder to pet store)
- Shipper’s packaging must be tested and pre-approved by FedEx Packaging Design and Development for the type of animal being transported. Call 1.800.633.7019 for more information.
Lastly, it is important to note that it is the customer’s responsibility to adequately package the goods for all extreme temperature and handling conditions.
Can you ship animal carcasses with FedEx?
Generally, FedEx does not accept animal carcasses as part of its regular service.
However, companies may accept certain animal heads or other parts for shipment for taxidermy if properly packaged.
To ship animal carcasses, organs, or other parts, you must obtain a FedEx waiver. To obtain a copy, please contact the FedEx Animal Service Desk at 1.800.405.9052.
If approved, the shipper’s package must be tested and pre-approved by FedEx Packaging Design and Development for the type of animal carcass, organ, or part being shipped.
The department can be reached at 1.800.633.7019.
As with the transport of live animals, it is the shipper’s responsibility to properly package the cargo to account for extreme temperatures and handling conditions.
How much does FedEx cost a dog?
