Kroger breaks are typically 15 minutes, and lunch breaks are a minimum of 30 minutes and a maximum of one hour.
As a Kroger employee, you can expect the company to take it seriously when you’re late for work.
Although Kroger is mandated by state and federal employment laws to allow employees to take breaks, reports from some Kroger stores indicate that store management is often hesitant to do so.
This means that if you don’t intentionally take breaks during your shift, you could end up forfeited because the company may not enforce breaks for employees.
Since these are unpaid, most employees tend to ask for regular lunch breaks rather than longer ones.

Kroger’s break policy allows employees to take a 30-minute unpaid lunch break if they work a shift of 6 hours or more.
Do Kroger employees get a lunch break every 6-hour shift?
Kroger employees are required to take an optional (unpaid) 30-minute lunch break during their 6-hour shift. They also receive a 15-minute paid break during a 6-hour shift.

In addition to this, employees can also request an unpaid lunch break of 30 minutes to an hour, so employees must clock in during these lunch breaks.
Can I skip Kroger’s lunch break?
The conditions for skipping a lunch break are a little more complicated if you work a shift that qualifies for a lunch break.
Before learning about these conditions, keep in mind that federal law requires Kroger stores to comply with them.
For 6-hour shifts that are entitled to a 30-minute lunch break, you may skip the lunch break, but you cannot replace it with a break.
However, for shifts longer than 7 hours, you may not skip the lunch break, which consists of a 30-minute lunch break and two 15-minute breaks.
The same rules apply to minors working at Kroger, but they also cannot skip lunch breaks during 6-hour shifts.
