Lowe’s Appliance Warranty (Time Frames, Extensions, Is It Worth It, Claims & More)
If you’re one of the many people who shop for home improvement at Lowe’s, you’ve probably bought an appliance or two there too.
Lowe’s offers great deals on many major appliances, but did you know how their appliance warranties work? I got curious about this and started doing some research. Here’s what I found!
Lowe’s Appliance Warranty
Lowe’s offers a warranty on its major appliances that begins after the manufacturer’s warranty expires one year later. Your Lowe’s appliance warranty is activated and lasts for 3 or 5 years, depending on the plan you choose. Refrigerators, freezers, cooktops, washers and dryers are just some of the appliances covered.
Read on to find out what the Lowe’s warranty covers, how to file a claim, and whether you can cancel the warranty!
What is the time frame of the Lowe’s Appliance Warranty?
Lowe’s offers two different warranty periods for their appliances, a 3-year plan and a 5-year plan (at an additional cost depending on the appliance).
When you buy new major equipment at Lowe’s, it usually comes with a manufacturer’s warranty that lasts at least one year.
After this warranty expires, the Lowe’s Appliance Warranty goes into effect for up to 5 years, depending on the plan you choose.
What does the Lowe’s Appliance Warranty cover?
The Lowe’s Appliance Warranty not only covers faulty appliance repairs, it even includes cash back on items you need to buy your appliance.
quick repair
The Lowe’s Appliance Warranty includes repairs to faulty appliances within 7 days of your request, and if they don’t send someone to fix it in time, they’ll pay you a one-time payment of $50.
This benefit excludes refrigerators and freezers and is only in effect after the original manufacturer’s warranty has expired.
reload labor
If your unit gets decoupled, Lowe’s will pay for the labor cost of reinstalling it rather than letting you figure out how to reconnect it yourself and potentially damage it.
food coverage
If your refrigerator or freezer is malfunctioning, damaged or stops working, Lowe’s will pay up to $300 to cover any food lost during the incident.
“Keep Running” Rewards
When you buy items to keep your appliances running like water filters, hoses, rinse aid, and even cooktop cleaner, Lowe’s will give you 50% cash back on these items. Up to $100 every 12 months.
return benefit
Finally, Lowe’s also offers benefits for those who don’t need to use the warranty. If you do not use the plan to request a service call by the due date, you will receive 30% of the plan price back,
Customers have up to 60 days after Lowe’s equipment warranty officially expires to take advantage of this offer.

How do you file a claim against Lowe’s Appliance Warranty?
If something happens to your equipment, you can claim an equipment warranty to schedule a service call and choose the time and date that works best for you.
Simply call 1-888-77-LOWES (56937) to schedule your service call. Lowe’s is open 7 days a week, 8am-6pm EST, so you can choose the day and time that works best for you.
To make a claim faster, you should have warranty documentation (including your protection plan number) ready.
Your protection plan number will be on your receipt. It also helps to know the make and model of your product.
If the service is a home repair job, you need someone over the age of 18 to make the appointment; otherwise, the repair will not be able to proceed and you will have to reschedule.
Additionally, if you need to file a benefit award reimbursement from the above benefits (such as expedited repairs), you can do so online.
Do you need a receipt to show your Lowes warranty?
Since your Protection Plan number will be printed on your receipt, it is important to keep it safe.
Still, it’s easy to lose your receipt sometimes, but since it’s vital to your Lowe’s appliance warranty, could you have an employee look it up?
Unfortunately, if you don’t have a MyLowes card or account, store associates can find it difficult to locate your purchase, especially if it’s been a long time coming. Lowes employees also cannot reprint receipts for customers.
However, if you have a MyLowes account and/or bank card, you will be able to view your entire purchase history while having that account.
With this service you can find your protection plan number without worrying about where your receipt is.
MyLowes account purchase history includes online and in-store purchases, and registration is free with no hidden fees.
Is the Lowe’s appliance warranty transferable?
If you want a new device and end up selling your old one, you may be wondering if the device warranty is transferable.
This can sometimes increase the price of older equipment, allowing you to reap more profit.
Thankfully, Lowe’s Appliance Warranties are transferable between owners for free. You will need to call 1-888-77-LOWES (56937) to initiate the transfer.
You will also need to transfer proof of your purchase receipt and any service repair receipts you received throughout the warranty period to the new owner.
Can I cancel the Lowe’s Appliance Warranty?
If you can’t pay for your warranty, you may want to cancel it to save money.
If so, Lowe’s has made it easy to start the cancellation process.
If you wish to cancel your plan, you must mail your cancellation request, your Benefits Summary Page, and the Warranty Terms and Conditions to the following address: PO Box 100, Rapid City, SD 57709.
If you receive a cancellation request within the first 30 days of purchase, you will receive a 100% refund of the warranty purchase price.
However, if you receive a cancellation request after 30 days of purchase, you will receive a prorated refund of the purchase price.
There are no cancellation fees and your warranty will be canceled upon receipt of your cancellation request.
