In Uber’s case, there is the Uber Pass. The program has changed significantly in recent years, which has made some people even more confused, which is why we did some in-depth research on what it is and what you get!
What is Uber Pass in 2022?
Uber Pass is a premium subscription service that has been replaced by Uber One. Uber Pass gives its members access to different perks of Uber service in 2022, namely rides and deliveries on Eats in 2022. Uber Pass costs $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year, billed annually. Uber Pass is limited to certain markets and is constantly being updated.

Is Uber Pass the same as Uber One?
Based on what we found in our research, Uber Pass was the same as Uber One after it was replaced.
First introduced, Uber Pass is a premium subscription available only for rides that cost $24.99 a month.
For customers using Uber Eats, they have the option to join the Uber Eats Pass and premium benefits for $9.99 per month.
Uber One was also launched a few years ago to replace and expand on Uber Eats Pass, which is still offered as a separate program, but only for existing customers.
At this point, both Uber One and Pass have the benefits of ride-hailing and delivery, with discounts for the former and no delivery fees for the latter.
Over time, Uber will phase out Uber Pass and replace it with Uber One in many markets, a process that is still ongoing in some places.
In November 2021, Uber announced that you could no longer purchase an Uber Pass as a new customer, but instead had to choose Uber One.
Today, a page on the Uber website that was previously dedicated to Uber Pass redirects to Uber One.
Uber also said Uber One is replacing Uber Pass on social media for customers asking questions about their existing subscriptions.
In some markets like Canada, it’s still called Uber Pass, but it’s nearly the same price and benefits as you get with Uber One.
Why is Uber charging me 24.99 per month?
Uber may charge you $24.99 per month for an Uber pass, which sometimes happens to people who have never signed up.
Uber One, the $9.99 per month service, is slowly replacing Uber Pass, but that’s still not happening in some areas, which is why some people still charge $24.99.
If you notice the charge, you should report it to Uber and have the company cancel it, if you don’t, dispute the charge or cancel the card.
What does an Uber pass do?
Uber Pass gives you the following benefits:
- 5% off eligible delivery, ride and pickup orders
- Priority service on all services, such as matching only with the highest rated drivers, and $5 Uber Cash if your Eats delivery arrives at you later than the estimated time
- Free shipping on participating non-grocery orders over $15
- Free shipping on orders over $30 at participating grocery stores
If you’re already using a partner-funded pass, a subscription customized by a third party, you can’t get an Uber pass.
Does Uber Pass make rides cheaper?
Uber Pass is supposed to make rides cheaper because it allows members to get discounts on eligible rides.
In practice, however, we have found that some customers report that they have noticed that their rides have become more expensive after getting an Uber pass.
Also, when they cancelled their membership, the rates came back down.
Is there a free trial for Uber Pass?
Uber Pass has a 1-month free trial for first-time users only. You can cancel it anytime before it ends automatically so you won’t be charged.
Does Uber Pass work with scheduled rides?
Unfortunately, Uber Pass is not valid for scheduled rides. We found this out through the fine print under Uber One.
This also shows through customer reports that the app will tell you you can get a discount when you book a ride in advance, but it doesn’t actually work.
In fact, we’ve seen customers say they’re charged more when they use Uber Pass than when they don’t.
You also can’t apply Uber Pass discounts to carpools.
Why can’t I cancel my Uber pass?
If you can’t cancel your Uber Pass, it’s likely because you weren’t where you first subscribed to it.
If you’re still in the same city and don’t see the option to manage your membership, you should update the Uber app and try again.
Are Uber passes worth it?
Whether an Uber pass is worth it depends on how many times you use Uber and how much you can save as a member.
Heavy users will benefit more than those who only use the service once or twice a month.
However, you need to be aware of the risks we’ve mentioned so far, such as restrictions when you go to different cities and potential price increases as a member.
Is Uber Pass from American Express Free?
Uber One is an alternative to Uber Pass, and in late 2021, American Express can choose cardholders for free.
Holders of an American Express Spending Card can get 1 year of Uber One for free if they sign up before December 31, 2021.
Prior to that, cardholders got an Uber Eats Pass, but in January 2022, cardholders were automatically transferred to Uber One.
Is Uber Pass available in my area?
To find out if Uber Pass is available in your area, you must seek Uber support by phone, email or social media.
If that doesn’t work, you’ll need to try signing up, maybe a free trial and cancel before you’re charged to see if it kicks in where you are.
