Safeway Employee Discount
Starting in 2022, Safeway employees are now entitled to 10% off their store-branded food orders and 5% off other labels.
As part of the new program, all employees will need to complete a certain probationary period by September 31 to receive benefits. They must also have an airline miles card that can be used at local checkout.

How to use employee discount?

First, all colleagues must pass a three-month trial period to qualify for a bargain. After this period, your ID will be scanned and attached to your Air Miles account so store management can check your balance.
When you use your code and do not have the card required above, you will not see the offer deducted from the product purchase amount!
Your Air Miles card will not work unless you first register in Sobeys’ Employee Self Service through the Employee Portal. This is due to the merger with Sobeys and Air Miles.
Is there a way to share the discount?
Everyone loves deals, especially from grocery stores, and Safeway is doing its best to meet all customers. They recently created an extension to the Air Miles program, allowing any family relationship residing in the household to be associated with a Miles account.
It’s also associated with worker deals, to benefit from great deals on items purchased at over two thousand partner locations!
Can Safeway discounts be used at any store?
Almost all items at Safeway are eligible for the deduction as long as the item is tagged. However, there are exceptions to these rules.
Some products could not receive any transactions because the manufacturer decided not to offer them. Another reason is that they fall into specific categories that are not eligible for the program, as shown in the list below:
- post Office
- tobacco
- gift card
- shop exception
- lottery
Additionally, the store manager will determine which items apply the lowest price. In some cases, these items will vary from store to store.
Sales price rules for such items may vary from store to store. If employees have any questions about pricing or deals during a sale, we encourage them to consult with their managers.
Where are employee discounts accepted?
At the end of 2013, Safeway became a wholly owned subsidiary of Albertsons Enterprises. The following stores are affiliated with the Albertsons Company and are therefore eligible to receive employee benefits from these stores:

When shopping for groceries, be sure to take advantage of the deals! If you’re a team member, you can get 10% off any purchase.
There are a few stores that don’t offer this, though, so it’s worth checking out before you’re out of town or need a quick snack like milk and bread.
