Amazon, now the world’s largest retailer outside of China, has built the empire on several key functions.
But what are Amazon’s working days? This can mean different things to different companies, so let me clarify how this retail giant works. If you’re interested in finding out, read on!
How many working days will Amazon be in 2022?
Business days associated with Amazon shipments are Monday through Friday, just like typical business days in 2022. Customers using Prime Two-Day Shipping should not expect Saturday or Sunday to count as a business day, unless Amazon states otherwise. However, Amazon warehouses operate 7 days a week.
Let’s take a closer look at Amazon’s hours of operation. If you want to know, keep reading!
Does Amazon Prime 2-day shipping include weekends?
According to Amazon’s own stateside delivery times page, “Delivery may be available on Saturday and Sunday in many regions.”
However, it goes on to state that “if weekend delivery is available to your destination, it will be specified on the product page and/or at checkout.”
Basically, Amazon may consider Saturdays and Sundays as business days, depending on several factors (i.e. your location), but the company makes no guarantees.
Their page further reads,
“Estimated delivery time for Free Prime Two-Day Shipping to destinations without weekend delivery is based on two business day transit time, excluding Saturday or Sunday. “
One more thing worth noting is that despite the Prime seal, different products have different delivery times.
However, it may be related to the warehouse where the item is located and its distance from you (destination).
As always, the best way to see if Saturday and Sunday count as working days for any particular item on Amazon is to visit the product page and check the shipping information.
If it doesn’t provide an estimated delivery date on the product page, add it to your cart and proceed to almost the end of checkout (without actually purchasing the item).
At checkout, the item will show its delivery date on Prime.
Does Amazon work on Saturday and Sunday?
Even though weekends don’t always count as delivery days (depending on the item or your location), Amazon.com always seems to be churning.
The warehouse is open and operational every day of the week, and most warehouse employees work four days a week in varying shifts—sometimes as long as 10 to 12 hours.
So while Amazon may not always count Saturdays and Sundays as working days (regarding deliveries, anyway), there are still employees working in warehouses.
Did Amazon deliver earlier than expected?
Amazon sometimes delivers earlier than expected and provides customers with updated information through the order page on Amazon’s website or app.
Amazon may give itself some grace period to estimate its deliveries in case of delays.
It’s during those times — and you, the customer, are less likely to realize — that Amazon’s packages tend to arrive earlier than expected.
Does Amazon Prime no longer offer 2-day shipping?
Amazon Prime still offers two-day shipping to its customers, even though it has slowed down for a while in 2020.
When the COVID-19 virus began to spread rapidly in the United States, Amazon (and many other companies) chose to prioritize orders containing essential items.
That means nonessential orders will be slowed down despite Prime shipping.
As a result, shipments that typically take two or two business days may take longer, sometimes even a month.
Happily, things returned to normal the following year, and the two-day Prime shipping went as planned.
Is Amazon Prime Shipping Guaranteed?
In some cases—and you have to pay attention at checkout—Amazon Prime guarantees two-day shipping. But there is a problem.
“Two-day” codes start from the item’s shipping date, not the order date.
So if you place an order with guaranteed two-day delivery, it may take four to five days, depending on when the item actually leaves the warehouse.
In other cases, your delivery is not guaranteed at all; instead, the date you see is the “estimated” arrival date, and Amazon won’t be penalized for being late.
However – as with Amazon’s generous return policy, Amazon wants its customers to be happy.
So you can contact them and express your dissatisfaction that a project you were looking forward to on one date was postponed to another.
It may offer you some form of compensation, such as a discount on your order.

in conclusion
Whether Amazon considers weekends, Saturdays, and Sundays as business days when calculating your package arrival depends on your and Amazon’s location.
However, employees work in Amazon warehouses 7 days a week, so they can shop and order packages 24/7.
