DoorDash Challenges: What They Are, How They Work, and More!
If you’re a DoorDash driver, you probably know how the whole thing works. Someone orders food online from a restaurant or grocery store, then you need to take the order, pick it up and deliver it to the requested address.
If you have a car, this can be a very easy way to make money, and if you start sprinting at the busiest time of the day, you can make some really good money.
However, those busy times of the day are not only highly competitive, but they also may not last long. If you find yourself running out of time and not making enough money during the day, you might want to consider stepping up to some DoorDash challenges.
Also, even at the busiest times of the day, you may find that it gets boring after a while. You’ll be driving to the same store over and over and making several deliveries, so why open the app? Once again, the DoorDash challenge has you covered.
What is a DoorDash challenge?
DoorDash challenges are designed to keep you busy and get you moving and placing orders. They might rejuvenate you during slower moments, or keep you productive when order volumes are moving fast.
If you can complete these challenges within a certain period of time, you will be rewarded.
Whenever you open the app and log in, you’ll see active challenges, and most of the time, they’re focused on whatever field you’re dabbling in.
If you are eligible for the challenge, you will be allowed to accept the challenge and see if you can complete it.
Additionally, the challenge has a starting point that you obviously need to start from here, and the time limit you need to complete the challenge.
For example, you might be challenged to complete 15 deliveries from 12:01AM local time Monday to 11:59PM local time Friday. If you do, the app will give you an extra $20 upon completion.
The concept of DoorDash challenges is simple, but many people either have questions about them or want more information, so we’ve covered all of them below.
How do you use DoorDash challenges?
Instead of selecting a challenge when you log into the app, all currently active challenges are automatically displayed (usually one at a time) and work for you. You just need to complete the challenge and the money you get at the end will be added to your weekly earnings.
Just make sure to complete the challenge at any of the starting points listed, and you’ll find everything on the DoorDash app’s challenges page.
You just need to open the page and you will find the details of the challenge along with the progress details and the money you will get for completing the challenge.
Once the challenge is complete, the challenge page will change to a results page showing the payment. Then, if the schedules match, you can also apply for more challenges and earn more money.
While you can earn more money by completing different challenges throughout the week, you can only be assigned and tackle one challenge at a time. Then, once your challenge is complete or time runs out, you’ll get a new challenge.

How do you get challenged in DoorDash?
One of the biggest problems people have with DoorDash apps these days is that they may not be challenged. This can be overwhelming if your family and friends are doing DoorDashing in the same area and have challenges left and right.
Well, companies challenge you based on a variety of different factors. These factors include not only your geographic location, but also:
- New Dashers: DoorDash challenges typically target these three types of DoorDashers. They give newcomers the ability to make a little extra money when they are just starting out.
- Long-Term Dashers: Challenges can also help long-term DoorDashers earn some extra money because they’re on the app every day.
- Returning Dashers: Finally, if someone restarts a sprint after a break, a challenge can help them get back on track.
Additional challenges can be sent to you based on where you sprint. If a lot of orders are coming from stores in rural areas outside the city, and most drivers are taking those orders, rural areas can be the starting point for the challenge. The drivers got some extra money and the orders were fulfilled. Win for everyone!
If you don’t receive a challenge notification, don’t worry, you haven’t been forgotten! As soon as a challenge for which you’re eligible appears, you’ll be notified and can play right away! Just make sure to be patient and keep an eye on the app and you’ll find something.

What does the DoorDash challenge cost?
Completing each challenge earns cash prizes ranging from $20 to $50. Additionally, they can also coincide with maximum pay, so you can make a big difference if you make the right amount of progress on your challenges during top pay hours.
All of these challenge payments are on top of the work you do by completing the order. So if you need to fill 10 orders Monday-Friday for $30, you’ll get an extra $30 plus the normal fare for the first 10 orders.
Then, once you complete the challenge, your weekly earnings will be updated and you will receive the total amount on payday!
Finally, sometimes DoorDashing offers guaranteed pay. If you complete a challenge, you will receive certain changes. For example, they challenged drivers to earn $250 if they made 25 deliveries in the next seven days.
For guaranteed jobs, if you meet these numbers and your gross earnings and customer tips don’t match the guaranteed amount, the difference will be paid by DoorDash.
These jobs aren’t too common, but they do appear and you need to keep an eye out for them.

Does everyone have the same DoorDash challenges?
No, your DoorDash challenges will depend on your location, your experience level and various other factors.
Each challenge has different eligibility requirements, with some personalized conditions for riders taking the challenge, which pop up randomly if you meet the criteria.
If there’s a surge of new customers in a region, a surge of new DoorDashers, or if you’re a DoorDasher returner, you’ll be eligible for certain challenges that no one else will.
You’ll always get the challenge the moment you qualify for the app, and you’re good to go.
Why didn’t the DoorDash challenge appear?
If you find that the DoorDash challenge is not appearing in front of you, then you do not meet the challenge requirements for your region. Unfortunately, there’s nothing you can do to make the challenge appear, you just need to keep DoorDashing and see when the challenge appears.
If you’re really up for the challenge, you can move to a different area to find some new starting points, or stop using the app for now.
If you come back after a while, you may find that your DoorDash challenge is picking up because you meet the criteria for a “return dasher”.

Is the DoorDash challenge worth it?
Considering that the challenge is free and not opt-in, and you’re going to be doing what the challenge asks you to do anyway, you might as well earn a little extra.
If you want to earn extra cash while doing DoorDashing, you should at least keep the challenge in mind as you go along.
There’s nothing to lose and there’s no reason not to complete the challenges as they’re not too challenging (which are challenges anyway).
If you know what you’re doing and have a couple of busy order rush times throughout the day, it’s very easy to be able to deliver 10/15 in 7 days and you can earn extra cash!
For bonus points, make sure you focus on fulfilling orders during peak pay hours and you can earn more! Check the app and complete your order to see how much money you brought.
It will definitely increase your bank account and allow you to have more fun at DoorDashing.
