Can I ship dogs with UPS?
Because UPS is a private shipping company, the types of animals allowed on its network are different from the US Postal Service. So we sometimes raise the question of whether dogs can be shipped with UPS.Unfortunately, just like the USPS, the answer is Do not.
UPS bans all shipments containing dogs
UPS will not accept any shipment containing dogs under any circumstances. Unfortunately, for that matter, you can’t use any of the three major U.S. carriers to ship dogs or mammals of any kind.
Types of live animals accepted by UPS
Below is a list of animal species that UPS will accept on its network, along with some examples within each category:
- Amphibians (all)
- For example: frog, salamander, toad
- cephalopod (all)
- Example: squid, octopus, nautilus
- Crustaceans (all)
- For example: crab, crayfish, lobster, shrimp
- fish (all)
- insect (Beneficial insects only)
- For example: bees, butterflies, crickets, ladybugs
- mollusk (all)
- Example: clams, mussels, snails
- reptile (only below)
- lizard (eg chameleon, gecko, iguana, monitor, flying dragon)
- sea turtle (such as tortoises, sea turtles and all freshwater turtles except snapping turtles)
- worm (all)
Types of Animals Prohibited by UPS
Below is a list of animal species that UPS will provide no Accept in its network under any circumstances:
- Any poisonous, poisonous or threatening animal
- any threatened or endangered species
- arachnids (all)
- For example: mites, scorpions, spiders, ticks
- birds (all)
- Crocodile (all)
- Example: Alligator, Caiman, Crocodile
- mammal (all)
- nasty insect
- For example: flies, locusts, mosquitoes, cockroaches, termites, weevil
- snake (all, including toxic and non-toxic)
Since dogs are mammals, they fall into the “Prohibited Animals” category that UPS will not allow you to ship.
