What type of sushi does Walmart have?
Walmart sells both “fresh” sushi in the deli section and frozen sushi in the freezer section.
Walmart’s fresh sushi comes from the Moji brand and comes in three varieties: Classic California Roll, Spicy Crab, and California Cream Cheese.
Additionally, customers get 10 pieces per pack for an average price of about $6 per piece.
Besides sushi, moji rolls are served with wasabi, soy sauce and ginger.
You might also find Okami brand sushi at your local Walmart, although it doesn’t seem to be as widely available as the Moji type.
(It’s worth noting that Walmart’s moji sushi is not made in-store; the deli section where people make it doesn’t have a sushi counter. It’s pre-packaged to the store.)
In addition, Walmart’s frozen sushi is mainly from the Banzai brand, with shrimp avocado rolls and spicy crab rolls.
These packs come in boxes of 15, soy sauce and wasabi packets and need to be thawed (safest in the refrigerator) before serving.
Who makes moji sushi?
Moji sushi brand is a subsidiary of Trident Seafoods.
Trident Seafoods is a family owned and operated business with fishing communities throughout Alaska ports. They also fish and sell fish such as cod, pollock, halibut, rockfish and salmon.
However, as you can see from their website, Moji sushi arrives at stores assembled and frozen.
Stores then thaw them and put them in coolers for sale.
How much is sushi at Walmart?
Walmart sushi is definitely more affordable than what you get at a Japanese restaurant.
Also, Moji brand sushi costs about $6 per pack on average; depending on your location, it might be a little more or a little less.
However, frozen banzai sushi is slightly more expensive at around $6.50 – but keep in mind that you get 15 pieces in total.
These prices are lower than other grocery store sushi, such as at Giant Eagle, which cost between $7 and $10 per pack.
Where is the sushi at Walmart?
Fresh Sushi is located in your Walmart’s deli and prepared foods section, where you may find prepared sandwiches, salads, and other items that must be refrigerated.
Walmart’s frozen sushi is located in their freezer section, usually near the back of the store.
Look for the meat department, where you’ll see freezers with seafood and in these freezers you’ll find frozen sushi.
Should you buy sushi from Walmart?
Walmart’s sushi isn’t well-received by the media or many Walmart customers.
It was even voted the worst grocery store sushi in a Mashed poll, with nearly 55% of respondents giving Walmart that dubious title.
