Will Costco have curbside pickup in 2022? (yes, but it’s a bit complicated…)
Costco has been the retail store and warehouse of choice for many families due to its competitive prices and extensive store network. With 804 warehouses in about 12 different countries around the world, they have maintained a steady diet of excellent customer service and customer satisfaction.
Accessibility to our daily necessities has been challenging in these pandemic years. Still, Costco has adapted to tough times making it easier for customers to pick up their groceries/items.
Will Costco offer curbside pickup in 2022? Read on to find out!
Does Costco have curbside pickup?
Yes, Costco does have curbside pickup, but it’s a smaller move than one might expect. In January 2021, Costco announced a pilot curbside grocery pickup at 3 warehouse locations in Albuquerque, NM, open to members there only.
Costco previously only offered pickup for more expensive items like jewelry and electronics. Unfortunately, Costco hasn’t expanded this program to other repositories since then, so it’s not fully available.
This feature is also only available for Costco members. But if you’re wondering how it all works, the answer is below!
For more information on Costco’s curbside pickup service, you can refer to their Official store website under Same day delivery Page.

- There is a $10 pickup fee per pickup order.

Are there other ways to buy groceries from Costco?
Yes, there are other ways customers can get contactless groceries and products from Costco. Methods of receiving your Costco products include delivery via the Instacart website and app and Pickup Containers at Costco Warehouses.
Instacart
Instacart is Costco’s primary delivery partner, allowing users to order their groceries and favorite Costco items. Simply order online on Instacart based on your location and Instacart will deliver your Costco groceries to your door.
The most popular shipping methods for Costco products purchased through Instacart are same-day and 2-day delivery.
Same day delivery
For same-day delivery, the minimum cost of the order should be at least $35. Free shipping is available on your first order, but the usual delivery fee is $5.99, plus a 10% service fee charged by Instachart.
This option is available for ordering fresh food and perishable goods at your doorstep.
2 days delivery
For 2-day delivery, your delivery fee is waived if you place a minimum order value of $75. Instachart still charges a 10% service fee for each delivery. This method works for non-fresh food as well as non-perishable goods and items delivered directly to your door.
Pick up from the pickup box
Costco is planning a major expansion of pickup lockers in warehouses at its more than 200 U.S. retail stores by the end of 2022, according to CFO Richard Galanti.
Container pickup operates like curbside pickup, where you can order items online and pick them up from a Costco warehouse. The process involves limited contact between customers and store staff to keep everyone safe in the post-pandemic era.
Since this is a developing extension to Costco, we look forward to them developing a complete system for the Pickup Locker Program!
in conclusion
Costco has made a number of major moves to establish itself as one of the largest retailers in the world. Their success involves a seamless customer shopping experience with multiple options for delivering products to customers.
While the curbside pickup program hasn’t fully become the norm at Costco, the option for pickup still exists. Meanwhile, Costco has found different ways to reach customers through other means, namely same-day grocery delivery through Instacard and pickup from pickup boxes.
