Is DoorDash cheaper than Uber Eats? (What to know!)

Order pizza, sushi, or a hot meal from your favorite restaurant with ease using almost any food delivery app. Delivery from apps like DoorDash, Uber Eats, and GrubHub is quick and easy!

But with so many options, which is the best? ! Is DoorDash cheaper than Uber Eats? We looked into it and here’s what we’ve learned…

Is DoorDash cheaper than Uber Eats?

DoorDash has a lower minimum order fee than Uber Eats, which makes DoorDash cheaper for small orders. However, DoorDash charges a 7%-15% service fee for larger orders, making Uber Eats the best option.

    DoorDash and Uber Eats

Doordash had the highest market share of all affordable food delivery services in 2019, accounting for about 27% of the market. DoorDash charges between $1.99 and $5.99 per order.

It’s also available in all 50 states, making it easy and convenient to order from anywhere in the United States. The fact that it’s all over is also great for restaurants because they can reach the widest possible audience.

Although UberEats is only available in 500 locations around the world, it has a market share of about 25%. Uber Eats has an extensive network of drivers, so there’s always someone available to deliver the order through the app.

This may seem trivial, but the fact that DoorDash is 100% dedicated to serving food seems to make the experience even more streamlined and efficient.

In general, Uber Eats may be better for larger orders due to DoorDash’s 7-14% service fee. But DoorDash is better for small orders as they have lower minimum requirements.

    DoorDash and other delivery services

Both Uber Eats and DoorDash charge a small order fee for orders below a certain minimum, although DoorDash’s minimum is usually lower than Uber Eats. This means that if you’re just buying one or two items, there’s usually no small order fee.

This makes DoorDash a more affordable option for small purchases. However, thanks to DoorDash’s 7%-15% service fee, Uber Eats comes out on top for larger orders.

DoorDash also offers alcohol delivery, which Uber Eats does not.

Which is cheaper: Uber Eats, Grubhub or DoorDash?

Before the tip, GrubHub is a bit cheaper than DoorDash with DashPass. By comparison, Uber Eats appears to be the most expensive service on the market. Uber Eats tip recommendations are always $4. Each time, GrubHub recommends a 20% tip.

New food delivery apps are taking over areas previously inhabited by pizza delivery drivers and Chinese food takeaways.

“The big four apps, DoorDash, Grubhub (which owns Seamless), Uber Eats and Postmates, have tripled their sales since 2016,” said analyst firm Second Measure.

Forget Blue Apron and Hello Fresh, food delivery apps make it easy to grab your favorite meals and beverages from local restaurants without leaving your home. Users can choose from thousands of venues and have their meals delivered within minutes of placing their order.

After all, this ease comes at a price – figuratively speaking. When it comes to third-party and restaurant delivery apps, “consumers pay 42% more than when buying takeout or dining at a restaurant.”
